Latvia host England at Daugava Stadium on Tuesday in a World Cup qualifying match you can follow live from 19:45 BST. The home team enter with five points on the board, but are winless in their previous five Group K outings. Their poor form means qualifying for next summer’s festival of football is almost impossible. They’re already ten points off the pace set by their guests, making Tuesday’s match a must-win for the Wolves.

England are sitting pretty at the top of the pool, boasting a 100% record. They’ve played five and won five, collecting 15 points and enjoy a cushion over nearest rivals Albania. They may be on their travels, but Tuesday gives England a golden opportunity to add another three points and take a huge step towards World Cup 2026 in the United States, Mexico and Canada. Will the visitors get the job done in style?

Football betting writer Frank Monkhouse studies the stats available at Flashscore, including the Latvia vs England head-to-head results. He analyses the trends, highlights the recent form of both nations, picks out the most interesting betting markets, and shows you which online bookmakers offer the most generous odds. In short, this page has everything you need to make a profit betting on Latvia vs England.

Things go from bad to worse for 11 Wolves

Latvia started their FIFA World Cup 2026 campaign with an impressive 1-0 win over Andorra on the road. The teams were level at the interval, and it looked like the match might be heading for a draw when Paolo Nicolato’s team struck. Attacker Dario Sits found the net just before the hour mark to give his nation a slender advantage, and they managed to hold onto that lead. It was a perfect start, and Latvia fans allowed themselves to dream, but visions of rubbing shoulders with the elite of Planet Football didn’t last long.

Following that hard-earned but well-deserved three points, Latvia fans watched on in horror as their side stumbled from one poor result to another. They slipped to a predictable 3-0 defeat to Tuesday’s opponents at Wembley Stadium before 80,000 fans. The 11 Wolves then managed a decent 1-1 home draw with Albania, before suffering back-to-back 1-0 defeats to Serbia and Albania.

The head-to-head stats show Latvia and England have met only once before in competitive action, with the Three Lions roaring to that 3-0 victory back in March. Keeping that in mind, as well as the home team’s poor recent form, our first bet is on this renewal to produce three or more goals. Pick over 2.5 in the total goals market and your bet will land if the showdown produces more than two goals from both teams combined.

Tip: Over 2.5 goals @ 1/3 (bet365)

Bet explanation: You need this match to produce three or more goals from both teams combined.

Visitors to dominate in Riga

With goals expected in this match, we move to our second pick of the evening. A bet on England to win both halves would’ve boosted your balance back in spring. Thomas Tuchel’s team led 1-0 at the break thanks to a strike from Reece James. They added a couple more in the second 45, thanks to goal machine Harry Kane and Eberechi Eze.

England also won both halves in their friendly match against Wales in North London on Wednesday. They had the ball in the net inside the opening three minutes of play, an early blow that knocked the stuffing out of the Welsh Dragons. Following that goal from Morgan Rogers, Aston Villa teammate Ollie Watkins made it 2-0 on 11 minutes. Bukayo Saka delighted the crowd with a third and final goal on 20 minutes.

England took their foot off the gas against Wales following that stunning start—it was a friendly—but I don’t expect them to show Latvia the same level of mercy. Instead, I’m picking them to take an early lead and dominate the match, silencing their critics and flexing their muscles in front of a global TV audience.

Tip: England to win both halves @ 8/13 (bet365)

Bet explanation: England must be leading at half-time. The scores then reset to 0-0, and Tuchel’s men must out-score their hosts again in the second period.

Palace defender to impress

Exciting Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi is enjoying life in the England set-up under Tuchel. The 25-year-old was born in the Ivory Coast, but moved to London with his family as a baby. He has represented the Three Lions at every level from under-16s through to the national team. He’s fast-becoming a reliable name for both club and country.

Guehi’s standout performance in an England shirt came against Wales just five days ago. He played his part in keeping a clean sheet, but also provided two assists in that match. With his confidence sky-high, we’re happy to stick with the talented defender. Back him to score or assist in Riga.

Tip: Guehi to score or assist @ 11/4 (bet365)

Bet explanation: When following this pick, you need Guehi to get amongst the goals or to provide an assist for a teammate.
