Although it is only a loan, Votikova is the first Czech female player in the club's history and only the fourth Czech player at Arsenal after Tomas Rosicky, Petr Cech, and Michal Papadopulos. Moreover, following Katerina Svitkova's departure from Chelsea, she is currently the only Czech player in the WSL.
However, if you have been following women's football for a long time, you may be familiar with the name Votikova. The 29-year-old Czech international has already played for Paris Saint-Germain, with whom she participated in the Champions League, and Tottenham Hotspur, her new club's biggest rival.

Her league debut is surely remembered not only by Tottenham fans, but also by Arsenal fans. Votikova made her WSL debut in the North London derby in December 2023.
Spurs won 1-0, and it remains the only match that Tottenham's women's team has won against Arsenal to date. Votikova saved shots from star strikers such as Alessia Russo and Vivianne Miedema and was named Player of the Match.
Despite a very impressive start, injuries held her back from greater success in Europe's top women's league, so she returned to Slavia Prague, where she had previously gained her first experience in the Champions League and won four titles.
During the 2024/25 season, she replaced the departing Olivie Lukasova, who had signed with AS Roma, as the Prague club's number one goalkeeper, helping them win the league title and the cup.
With almost half a million followers, Votikova is the most followed active Czech footballer ever. She has more followers on Instagram than Patrik Schick or Pavel Sulc, for example.
Even those who don't follow women's football know her name. Why, you ask? In addition to football, Votikova has been making videos on YouTube for almost 10 years, where she became famous for her funny skits and daily vlogs.
Now, this relatively experienced goalkeeper has a new mission ahead of her. At least until the summer, she will be wearing the jersey of the reigning Champions League champions and newly crowned world champions.
Arsenal have been struggling with the fitness of their goalkeepers for some time. Daphne van Domselaar has been injured since November, Manuela Zinsberger has torn her ACL, and Anneke Borbe was injured in the Champions Cup final. Votikova's debut in a Gunners jersey could come at any moment.
