The wait is over. The 90th Masters Tournament gets underway this week at Augusta National Golf Club in Augusta, Georgia, and the world's finest golfers are gathering at one of sport's most iconic venues for the first major championship of the 2026 season.
The 2026 Masters runs from Thursday, April 9 through Sunday, April 12, with practice rounds having taken place earlier in the week.
Here is everything you need to know to follow every shot.
What is the Masters?
The Masters is the only major championship in golf played at the same venue every year. Augusta National Golf Club, set in Augusta, Georgia, is known for its dramatic elevation changes and tricky water hazards.
The winner receives the coveted Green Jacket, a lifetime invitation to the Masters, and honorary membership at Augusta National. Players who win it live forever in golf history.
For 2026, the course plays as a Par 72 and has been lengthened to a record 7,565 yards. Notably, the 17th hole has been subtly extended by 10 yards to 450 yards, adding yet another test to an already fearsome closing stretch.
When and Where?
The tournament takes place from Thursday, April 9th to Sunday, April 12th, 2026 at Augusta National Golf Club, Augusta, Georgia, United States.
Wednesday, April 8th features the traditional and much-loved Masters Par 3 Contest, which serves as a curtain-raiser to the main event and is always a fan favourite.

The Defending Champion
Rory McIlroy enters as the defending champion after completing his career Grand Slam at Augusta in 2025, defeating Justin Rose in a playoff in one of the most dramatic finishes in Masters history.
The victory ended an 11-year wait for the major and made McIlroy just the sixth golfer ever to win all four major championships.
This year, McIlroy will host the Masters Champions Dinner, with an Irish-inspired menu said to include sticky toffee pudding.
Now he faces the daunting challenge of becoming the first back-to-back Masters champion since Tiger Woods in 2001 and 2002.
The Field
A field of 91 elite competitors descends on Augusta this week, featuring the top 50 players in the Official World Golf Rankings.
Notable past champions in the field include two-time winner Scottie Scheffler, 2023 champion Jon Rahm, 2021 winner Hideki Matsuyama, 2020 champion Dustin Johnson and three-time winner Jordan Spieth.
Notably, Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson are absent for the first time since 1994. The LIV Golf contingent is represented by Bryson DeChambeau and Jon Rahm, with DeChambeau arriving fresh off consecutive LIV Golf victories.
Cameron Young, winner of the Players Championship, is also among the most in-form players in the field heading into the week.
2026 Masters Betting Odds
World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler is the clear betting favourite at 11/2, marking the shortest pre-tournament odds since Tiger Woods in 2013.
The two-time Masters champion has an exceptional record at Augusta, having finished fourth or better in three of his past four starts at Augusta National and recording top-seven finishes in each of his last five major championship appearances.
Jon Rahm and Bryson DeChambeau are next in the betting at 10/1 and 13/1 respectively, with McIlroy also on 12/1.
Further down the market, Xander Schauffele (13/1), Ludvig Åberg (16/1), who finished runner-up on his Augusta debut in 2024, Tommy Fleetwood (20/1) and Cameron Young (18/1) are all considered serious contenders.
For those seeking longer-priced value, Jordan Spieth (40/1) and Brooks Koepka (40/1) both carry Green Jacket pedigree.
Prize Money
The 2026 Masters carries a prize purse of $20 million (£14.9m), with $3.6 million (£2.68m) reserved for the champion. It is one of the most lucrative paydays in sport.
