The final event of the PGA Tour will bring together the top 30 money leaders of the FedEx Cup standings in a shootout to lift the last trophy on the PGA Tour available this year.

The top 30 money leaders of the past PGA Tour are preparing themselves for the final event of the four-tournament FedEx Cup Playoffs as the Tour Championship kicks off. Over four days, the golfers will strive to win the $10 million prize and the last trophy lift of the 2026 PGA Tour.

The top two players in the world, Scottie Scheffler and Rory McIlroy, will be paired together for the tournament as the top two in the FedEx Cup standings. Yet, it may not be a straight shootout between the two as the format of the Tour Championship has changed, giving each player involved an equal chance to take the title.

Below, we look into everything you need to know about the upcoming Tour Championship.

Tour Championship key information

• Date: Thursday, August 21st - Sunday, August 24th

• First Tee time: 4.16 pm BST

• Venue: East Lake Golf Course, Atlanta, GA

• TV channels: Sky Sports (UK)

• Last year’s winner: Scottie Scheffler

• Odds: Scheffler (13/8) - McIlroy (7/1) - Fleetwood (12/1)

Schedule

Starting on Thursday, August 21st, the top 30 money leaders of the past PGA Tour will be paired together based on their standing. The 30th and 29th-ranked players will be paired, the 28th and 27th-ranked, and so on to make 15 pairs, with the mouth-watering pairing of the top two.

The first two players will be the American duo of Akshay Bhatia and Chris Gotterup, who have a 16:16 BST tee time. The top two, Scottie Scheffler and Rory McIlroy, will step up to the tee last at 19:00 BST.

The top players at the end of each day will tee last on the following day. All 30 players play until the last day, and, in a change to the format, all players start on an equal par zero this year, abandoning the starting strokes format that had the top players starting at 10 under par.

Favourites

The favourite for the Tour Championship is last year’s winner and world number one Scottie Scheffler. He had a slow start to 2025, cutting his hand on a wine glass over Christmas, which hampered him as the form dropped off in the New Year. However, not only has Scheffler regained his form over the year, but he has also stayed at number one and won two Majors. Imperious form.

Rory McIlroy is the bookies' favourite to challenge Scheffler at 7/1 compared to the American’s 13/8. McIlroy has lost his form since winning his maiden Masters title, but is always a danger and has a good record on the East Lake Golf Course, winning the Tour Championship three times.

The third favourite is Tommy Fleetwood, who finished tied fourth in last week's BMW Championship and tied third in the FedEx St. Jude Championship the week before. With such strong form, it is no wonder he comes in at 12/1 to win outright this week.

Where to watch

The whole of the Tour Championship will be shown on Sky Sports, starting at 18:00 BST on Thursday on Sky Sports Main Event and 21:30 BST on Sky Sports Golf.

Saturday has a later start time on the Sky channels, with coverage on Golf starting at 17:00 BST and on Main Event at 20:30 BST.

The final day of action on Sunday starts earlier again, at 16:00 BST on Golf and 21:00 BST on Main Event.
