The Dallas Stars are a win away from the Western Conference final after a Mikael Granlund hat-trick saw them defeat the visiting Winnipeg Jets 3-1.

It was the Granlund show in Dallas, as the Finnish international scored once in each period to give his team the win.

His first goal came eight and a half minutes into the match on a power play. The 33-year-old went coast to coast, flying past a couple of opponents before firing one past Connor Hellebuyck.

Despite having double the shots to their opponents in the opening 20 minutes, the Jets could not find the back of the net. That changed a minute after intermission though. On a tight angle, Nikolaj Ehlers blasted his shot in. It was one Jake Oettinger would certainly love to have back in the Dallas goal.

The Jets continued to carry much of the game, as they had 18 of their 52 shots in the middle frame. Yet, they would go down a goal once again towards the end of the period.

After a misplaced pass, Miiko Rantanen found Granlund who skated across the blue line. Although he wanted to pass off the puck, there was a Winnipeg player in the way. That did not stop the winger from taking the shot himself, finding the corner of the net.

Granlund completed his hat-trick - as well as the scoring - almost seven and a half minutes into the final period. After Matt Duchene's attempt crashed off the post, the puck fell to Miro Heiskanen, who played it to Granlund. Despite the fairly difficult angle, he went for goal, smashing it past Hellebuyck to make it 3-1.

The Jets continued to try breaking the Dallas deficit but to no avail.

They go down 3-1 in this series as the teams return to Winnipeg for game five, where the President's Trophy winners will hope to bring the series back to Texas one more time.
