The Capitals got out to a 2-0 lead in the first period with goals by Pierre-Luc Dubois (5) and Andrew Mangiapane (7). But the Blackhawks responded with three straight unanswered goals that led them to a 3-2 victory.
Ilya Mikheyev (4) scored the Blackhawks' first with a short-handed goal to start the third period followed by goals from TJ Brodie (2) and Ryan Donato (11) that sealed the win. The Caps (21-8-2) fall to second in the Metro division while the Blackhawks improve to 11-19-2.
Predators 2-0 Rangers
The Predators got their ninth win of the season over a Rangers team now riding a three-game losing streak. Jonathan Marchessault (8) put the first one home for the Predators in the first period then Adam Wilsby scored his first goal of the season in the third period to put the Rangers away 2-0.
Juuse Saros had 25 saves for the Predators on Tuesday, marking his third shutout of the year. The Rangers fall to 15-15-1 on the season and sixth in the Metro Division.
Overtime wins
The Boston Bruins won a 4-3 overtime thriller over the Calgary Flames courtesy of David Pastrnak's (12) game-winner with just 38 seconds left. The Flames took a 3-1 lead heading into the third period with goals by Matt Coronato (8), Nazem Kadri (12), and Ryan Lomberg (1).
But Boston responded with three straight goals of their own to send it to OT before officially winning their second game in a row. The Bruins improve to 17-13-3 while the Flames fall to 15-11-6.
The Penguins won 3-2 over the Los Angeles Kings in overtime on Tuesday, courtesy of goals from Evgeni Malkin (7), Matt Grzelcyk (1), and Rickard Rakell's (14) OT winner.
Pittsburgh improves to 14-14-5 on the year while the Kings hold their second place standing in the Pacific Division despite the loss with a 18-9-4 record.

The Montreal Canadiens routed the Buffalo Sabres by a score of 6-1 while the Carolina Hurricanes shut out the New York Islanders 4-0. The Tampa Bay Lighting beat the Columbus Blue Jackets 5-3 and the New Jersey Devils retake first place in the Metro Division after a 4-1 win over the St. Louis Blues.
