The NHL saw a nine-game slate on Monday with Toronto Maple Leafs star Auston Matthews scoring in his fourth straight game while the Vegas Golden Knights losing streak ties a current NHL worst.

Before any highlights and game recaps, it's worth watching the tribute that was shown before Monday's game between the Los Angeles Kings and the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Now onto the highlights, Matthews (19) got things started for Toronto scoring the first goal of the game before downing the Tampa Bay Lightning (25-17-3) in a 5-3 victory. Matthew Knies (18) scored twice while William Nylander (28) and Mitch Marner (15) scored the other goals for Toronto.

The Maple Leafs have now won three straight after coming off of a three-game losing streak as they now improved to 30-16-2 and continue to hold down the top of the Atlantic Division.

Blues 5-4 Golden Knights

The St. Louis Blues delivered the Las Vegas Golden Knights' fourth straight loss after scoring twice in a shootout. Jack Eichel (12) and Pavel Dorofeyev (20) scored for the Knights in the third period to tie it up at 4-4 to send it to overtime.

But Jake Neighbours and Brayden Schenn both scored for the Blues in the shootout to eventually seal the win. The Golden Knights are currently on their worst stint of the season while the Blues have won three of their last four games.

Hurricanes 4-3 Blackhawks

Sebastian Aho (14) put one in net to give the Canes their fourth overtime win of the season. Philipp Kurashev (4) and Tyler Bertuzzi (17) got the Blackhawks out to a 2-0 start in the first period before Carolina responded in the second with two goals of their own from Seth Jarvis (16) and Jesperi Kotkaniemi (7).

The two teams then traded goals to send it 3-3 into overtime where the Canes came out with the win. Chicago hasn't held a win streak of two games or more since their three-game stretch between December 15th and December 19th.
