The Nashville Predators delivered a 3-2 overtime blow to the Los Angeles Kings thanks to a game-winning goal by Nick Blankenburg, which marked his first of the season.
Nashville went up 2-0 with goals by Zachary L'Heureux (4) and Jonathan Marchessault (10) before the Kings answered with two straight of their own from Quinton Byfield (6) and Alex Laferriere (13). Then Blankenburg sent home Kings fans disappointed within just a minute of OT play.
The Preds improved to 10-17-7 while the Kings fell to 19-9-5, now 7-1-2 in their last 10 games.
The Islanders' six goals in their 6-3 win over the Toronto Maple Leafs tie their season-high...which they set in their third game of the season. Their 92 goals are the third least in the Eastern Conference and seventh in the league.
Goals were scored by Maxim Tsyplakov (7), Bo Horvat (9), Jean-Gabriel Pageau (7), Isaiah George (1), Noah Dobson (5), and Mathew Barzal (3). New York improved to 13-14-7 while the Leafs fell to 21-11-2
Overtime victories
The Edmonton Oilers (20-11-2) won 3-2 over the San Jose Sharks (11-19-6) thanks to an overtime goal by Leon Draisaitl (24), which he scored just 18 seconds into OT. Zach Hyman (12) and Mattias Ekholm (5) scored the other goals for Edmonton while Luke Kunin (9) and Jan Rutta (1) scored for San Jose.
Philadelphia (15-15-4) took home a 5-4 overtime victory over the Columbus Blue Jackets (13-15-6) thanks to the game-winner from Owen Tippett (11). Morgan Frost (6) scored twice for the Flyers while Noah Cates (5) and Tyson Foerster (9) put up the others.
Around the league
A pair of shutouts happened on Saturday as the New Jersey Devils goose-egged the Pittsburgh Penguins 3-0 while the Winnipeg Jets five-piece the Minnesota Wild in a 5-0 win.
The Montreal Canadiens took down the Detroit Red Wings 5-1 and the Calgary Flames bounced back from a loss to beat the Chicago Blackhawks 6-4. Boston took down the Sabres 3-1.
