The Carolina Hurricanes (25-15-2) continue their odd win-loss-win-loss-win pattern over the past seven games thanks to Jordan Staal's fourth-career hat-trick that led the team to a 6-3 over Toronto (27-14-2).
The Maple Leafs got out to a 2-0 lead thanks to goals by William Nylander (24) and Nicholas Robertson (7) but the Canes responded with three straight goals coming from Eric Robinson (10) and two from Staal (8). Matthews tied it back up 3-3 before Carolina unloaded three more goals to seal a win.
Sabres 4-0 Senators
While it may not have been the highest-scoring affair of the night, or the prettiest in terms of the match-up, but Luukkonen's 35-save night made for must-watch hockey (unless you're a Sens fan). This now marks Luukkonen's sixth 30+ save night. The highest amount of saves (37) from this season came against none other than the Senators back on November 5th.
Jack Quinn (7) scored the Sabres first two goals before Dylan Cozens (9) and Ryan McLeod (7) put the game out of reach. Buffalo improves 16-21-5 while Ottawa (19-8-3) have now dropped their fourth straight.
