Inter Miami’s opponents for CWC 2025
SE Palmeiras - Brazil
Palmeiras are one of the most dominant forces in South American football. The club have won the Copa Libertadores three times in their history, most recently winning in 2020 and 2021 - the reason they qualified for the Club World Cup. They have also won 12 league titles, the most by any team in the Campeonato Brasileiro Serie A history.
FC Porto - Portugal
Porto are one of the 12 European sides to have qualified for the tournament and earned their place in the Club World Cup via the UEFA ranking pathway. The club have won 30 league titles and 20 Taca de Portugal titles. They have the honour of never being relegated, competing in every season of the Portuguese top flight.
Al Ahly FC - Egypt
Al Ahly qualified for the Club World Cup as winners of the 2020/21, 2022/23 and 2023/24 CAF Champions Leagues. The Egyptian team are one of four clubs from Africa in the tournament and are a very popular club in the continent. Expected lineup: Inter Miami's squad list for CWC 2025
The Club World Cup comes right in the middle of the MLS season, meaning Messi and Co should be in full swing when some of the best teams from around the world descend on the USA. We can expect Inter Miami to field many of their best players, showcasing some of the best talent in the MLS, but also some of the most famous players to have played the game.
Benjamin Cremaschi is garnering attention from several clubs in Europe, and the 20-year-old midfielder may be on the move sooner rather than later. Federico Redondo is another young player that a lot is expected of, and playing under the tutelage of Sergio Busquets can only help the 22-year-old Argentine. Both can have a part to play in the tournament and show their class to a wider audience.
When Inter Miami does take to the field, all eyes will be on the ex-Barcelona quartet, who are proving they still have it in the MLS. The aforementioned Lionel Messi and Sergio Busquets will be joined by Luis Suarez and Jordi Alba during the tournament, to the delight of football fans everywhere. Hopefully, all will be fit and ready come June.

Players to Watch
The eight-time Balon d’Or winner is not only the biggest name in the Inter Miami team but probably in the whole Club World Cup. The mesmeric Argentine’s powers are not what they used to be, but what we do see from him now is an adapted, explosive type of game that opponents can underestimate at their peril. Messi is still Messi at the end of the day.
Another one of Miami’s stars of yesteryear who still has to be feared. Luis Suarez is now 38 but still knows where the goal is. The Uraguyan scored 25 goals in 37 games for The Herons in his first season and has four goals in eight matches this season.
A player who is apparently loved by Messi, Benjamin Cremaschi is one to watch at the 2025 Club World Cup. Tottenham Hotspur are said to be big admirers of the young Argentine who can operate anywhere in the central midfield. He is technically gifted and is getting more minutes to show his stuff for The Herons.
Winner odds: What are Miami’s chances of winning this year?
Inter Miami are very much outsiders to win the Club World Cup. The club would expect to get out of the group stage but realistically as runner-ups rather than winners. From there a game against either of the European heavyweights in Group B seems like it would be a step too far. However, never say never when Lionel Messi is on the pitch.
Paddy Power have Inter Miami at 33/1 to win the tournament outright, putting them as 16th favourites to win. At the top of that list, we have Manchester City, who are 7/2 to win the whole thing. They are followed by Real Madrid at 4/1, Bayern Munich at 7/1 and then Chelsea at 17/2.
How did Miami qualify for the 2025 tournament?
Inter Miami qualified for the 2025 Club World Cup by winning 2024 MLS Supporters' Shield - the trophy given to the team with the best overall record during the MLS regular season - taking the spot that was reserved for a club from the host nation. They are one of two clubs from Major League Soccer to appear at this years tournament.
Inter Miami’s 2025 Club World Cup kit
The Herons are yet to unveil a dedicated kit for the 2025 Club World Cup. It remains to be seen if they will, as they have just launched their kit for the 2025 season.
Have Miami ever won the Club World Cup before?
Inter Miami have never been to a Club World Cup before, and that is no surprise considering the club was only founded in 2018 and had its debut season in 2020. Since then, the team have won the Supporters’ Shield and Eastern Conference in 2024, plus the Leagues Cup in 2023. The Herons are surely hoping that their debut season in the Club World Cup is the first of many. The only other MLS team to ever qualify for the Club World Cup were Seattle Saunders in 2022 after winning the 2022 CONCACAF Champions League.
