The Premier League announced on Tuesday that an independent commission had found the Abu Dhabi-backed club guilty on more than 100 charges.
The 10-time English champions, who have always vehemently denied wrongdoing, said in a statement on Friday that they had lodged an appeal on Thursday, a day before the deadline.
"Manchester City Football Club can confirm that at 7pm on Thursday 1st October 2026 the club lodged its comprehensive appeal against the opinion of the Premier League commission, in relation to the Premier League disciplinary matter," the club said.
"The club's firm position is that, on multiple grounds, the opinion contains clear material errors, of law, principle and fact and is unsafe."
Manchester City Verdict
The Premier League have confirmed that Manchester City have been found guilty of all charges related to breaching financial rules.
The charges relate to breaches between the 2008/09 and 2017/18 seasons, with the club found guilty of breaching the Premier League's financial rules.
An independent commission found that the club had artificially inflated their revenues and reduced costs by more than £900 million during the time period mentioned.
The ruling also states that Manchester City committed multiple breaches of its duties of co-operation and utmost good faith towards the Premier League, and that they were in 'significant breach' of both the Premier League and UEFA's spending limits.
