The 24-year-old had a hand in both Everton goals, first netting the opener in the first half, before later turning provider for Thierno Barry with a decisive pass.
Garner was astute defensively too, winning eight duels and two tackles as well as making eight clearances and two interceptions.
Everton will look to make it back-to-back wins when they host Brentford on Sunday.
