France's Toulouse fly-half Romain Ntamack will return from more than seven months out with a knee injury this weekend, the club's defence coach Laurent Thuery said on Thursday.

Ntamack, 24, ruptured a knee cruciate ligament in August's Rugby World Cup warm-up win over Scotland and missed the tournament on home soil as a result.

The playmaker was a travelling reserve for the French Top 14 champions' loss at Bordeaux-Begles last weekend, having returned to full training earlier this month.

"All the lights have been green for a while," Thuery told reporters before Saturday's Top 14 home game with Pau.

"He wants to play, he's ready. He obviously is excited and is a little bit apprehensive of playing. The first minutes will wash that away and we'll see the Romain we all know.

"For now, everything is excellent, and there's no reason why it won't continue to be," he added.

Second-placed Toulouse host Pau and their former New Zealand lock Sam Whitelock with seven rounds of the regular season remaining. Ntamack's five-time Champions Cup winners then welcome Racing 92 in the competition's last 16 on April 7.
