World number one Judd Trump beat Ding Junhui in the afternoon session on day four of the Masters as the incredible run of 6-2 scorelines continued.

All seven of the matches so far have ended 6-2, with one match remaining before the quarter-finals begin on Thursday, where Trump will play Mark Allen after the Northern Irishman beat Mark Williams in his first-round match at the beginning of the week.

Ding had his chances in the opening exchanges on Wednesday, but overran when attempting to get a position off the brown in the first frame, which gave Trump a chance to make it 1-0. The Englishman duly converted before notching a 116 break in the second to make it 2-0 shortly thereafter.

Both players had their chances in the third frame, but Trump once again held firm to win it, before Ding launched a fightback with a 98 in the fourth and had the better of a safety exchange in the fifth to get within one frame of his opponent.

However, that was as good as it got for the 2011 Masters champion, who lost all three of the next frames to became the latest to lose by the standard scoreline at Alexandra Palace.

"It's an amazing venue to play in. I love coming back here every year. For me it's my favourite tournament to come to," said Trump, who recorded three centuries in the match.

"I feel a little bit nervous in the first game because I want do well and I want to get through, but it's a delight to play for the crowd."

It is a tenth appearance in the quarter-finals for the world number one, who is feeling optimistic give his strong form.

"I feel confident, I've got to a few finals recently and it's taken some good players to stop me," he said. "I'm full of confidence and hopefully I can go one better this tournament."

Ding said: "I just watched him play all the time. He looks to be playing very well.

"I placed a few terrible safeties and I let him just have easy chances. He's playing well and I wasn't at a good enough level to play against him."
