As for Alexander Zverev, the German is targeting his maiden Grand Slam title, having lost his previous two major finals to Dominic Thiem at the 2020 US Open and Carlos Alcaraz at last year’s French Open (both in five sets).

The world number two has progressed to the showpiece event in Melbourne with impressive wins over Ugo Humbert and Tommy Paul before Novak Djokovic was forced to retire just a set into their semi-final clash on Friday.
