Main draw ceremony
The official date and time for the main draw have not yet been announced. However, we can look at last year's schedule, where the women's draw was revealed on Sunday evening and the men's on Monday morning.
If the organisers follow the same scenario this year, the women's singles draw will take place on April 19th around 18:00 BST, and the men's singles draw on April 20th at approximately 10:00 BST. We will, of course, update the exact dates for the current edition once confirmed.
A total of 96 players, including qualifiers and wildcards, will enter the main draw.
Main draw
The main draw of the Mutua Madrid Open kicks off on Tuesday, April 21st, starting with the women's matches; the men's main draw begins a day later.
The women's singles final is scheduled for Saturday, May 2nd, while the men will compete for the title on Sunday, May 3rd.
The field is led by world number ones Jannik Sinner and Aryna Sabalenka, with the latter defending her title from last year. In the men's singles, Casper Ruud will be aiming to repeat his triumph.
Seedings
The top 32 players will be seeded, receiving a bye in the first round and potentially facing another seeded opponent no earlier than the third round. For the 2026 Mutua Madrid Open, the crucial rankings for seeding will be from April 13th (women) and April 20th (men).
Qualifying
The main draw will also feature players who advance through the two-round qualifying tournament. There are 48 spots available for both men and women, with only the top 12 from each category reaching the main draw. Qualifying takes place on Monday and Tuesday, April 20th–21st.
