Live updates

23:53 GMT - That about wraps things up, thank you for joining us! Catch you next time.

23:37 GMT - Looking for a round-up of this evening's action? You can find that right here.

23:24 GMT - How good must that feel for Wright? He's struggled mightily throughout the year, so that should give him a welcomed boost going forward.

23:20 GMT - Peter Wright survives a scare from Wesley Plaisier to win 3-2 and make his way into the next round!

A much-improved performance ensures he returns after Christmas.

23:19 GMT - But Wright forces a deciding leg! He'll have to hold his nerve here to see this out.

23:15 GMT - Wright nails a wonderful 127 but he still trails 2-1 in legs. Plaisier will have to throw for the set.

23:09 GMT - Plaisier hits back with three straight legs to notch his first set and cut Wright's lead down to 2-1.

Poor set from 'Snakebite', who made a real mess of some potential checkouts.

22:57 GMT - Wright steals the second set to grab a 2-0 lead after winning the deciding leg!

He was essentially gifted it in the end with Plaisier wayward with his finishing, missing eight darts for the set in total.

22:55 GMT - We're in for another deciding leg in the next set as Plaisier squanders a chance to level the match.

Both players struggling to hold throw here.

22:42 GMT - Wright recovers from a very sloppy start to take the first set!

He drops two legs down but takes it to a decider, prevailing after taking out 56.

22:25 GMT - Final match of the day coming up at Alexandra Palace and it sees two-time champion Peter Wright take on Wesley Plaisier in the second round.

It's been a tough old season for 'Snakebite', who enters the tournament outside the top 16.

22:15 GMT - Fallon Sherrock is out of the World Championship! She's beaten at the first hurdle by Ryan Meikle, who takes the final-set decider 3-2.

Sherrock threatened the 'big fish' but misses on the final dart, allowing Meikle to return and clean up.

Meikle advances and grabs a match-up against Luke Littler.

22:10 GMT - Both players are fighting tooth and nail here as Sherrock responds to Meikle's winning opening leg.

Anyone's game now...

22:05 GMT - All square again! Sherrock finds a gear and equalises at 2-2 to send the match into a deciding fifth set.

The crowd's up again ahead of the shootout.

21:58 GMT - It's all gone a bit flat in the arena as Sherrock looks to get going again, but that's down to some solid darts from Meikle.

21:52 GMT - And Meikle does take set three to hold a 2-1 lead.

He was perfect on the outs throughout, hitting all three offered up to him.

21:50 GMT - The momentum has shifted here as Meikle bags a super 119 checkout to take a 2-0 lead in legs – his fifth straight.

He's closing in on a 2-1 lead overall. Sherrock needs to find a response from somewhere.

21:38 GMT - Meikle is on the board by dominating the second set to level the match at 1-1.

He took out a gorgeous 111 and he'll hope that will help quieten the crowd and turn the tide in this one.

21:26 GMT - What a start for Sherrock as she reels off three straight legs for the opening set!

She takes out 78 expertly to steal a potential Meikle leg away and confirm the first stanza.

Meikle was off-key there and he'll need a much better showing going forward.

21:19 GMT - Some other darting news that has developed tonight is Luke Littler finishing second in the BBC's Sports Personality of the Year voting.

He finished behind British Olympic 800m gold medallist Keely Hodgkinson.

21:15 GMT - Ally Pally is absolutely rocking as Sherrock completes her walk-on towards the stage.

The crowd have their clear favourite here – is she able to deliver the goods?

21:04 GMT - Next up, the 'Queen of the Palace' Fallon Sherrock takes to the stage against Ryan Meikle as she bids to embark on a deep World Championship run.

She'll have it all to do against a tricky Meikle, but there's a tie against Luke Littler up for grabs in the next round.

21:00 GMT - The Ally Pally crowd has a new cult hero in the form of Rashad Sweeting.

Hear from a jolly Sweeting despite suffering a first-round defeat on his World Championship debut.

20:58 GMT - Easy as you like from Ricardo Pietreczko as he defeats Zong Xiao Chen 3-0 to breeze into the second round.

Pietreczko will next play 28th seed Gian van Veen on Monday.

20:54 GMT - There hasn't been a whole load to split both of these players, but the finishing has let Zong down.

He's only converted two of 10 attempts so far while Pietreczko has put away eight of 12.

20:44 GMT - Pietreczko is too clinical on the doubles and extends his lead to 2-0 in sets and that will hurt Zong.

Zong is undone by Pietreczko's 'Shanghai finish' of 120 and the German is now closing in on round two.

20:27 GMT - Pietreczko makes a strong start and captures the first set by rattling off three straight legs.

Zong only has two attempts at a double but doesn't convert on either.

20:12 GMT - Moving swiftly on, Germany's Ricardo Pietreczko takes on Zong Xiao Chen of China for a place in round two.

Pietreczko made this year's quarter-finals at the European Championship, while Zong is making his World Championship debut.

20:06 GMT - Jeffrey de Graaf comes from one set down to take out Rashad Sweeting and move to round two, where he'll face two-time champ Gary Anderson.

Sweeting can very much head back to the Bahamas with his head held high after that display, but he'll rue those missed darts to go 2-0 up.

It seems Ally Pally has a new cult hero in their hearts.

20:03 GMT - De Graaf is one leg away from victory but Sweeting isn't going down without a fight, taking out 126 to set the highest checkout of the match!

19:57 GMT - De Graaf seems to have taken over here as he takes set three to lead 2-1.

Just solid scoring from the Swede and he's one set away from the second round.

Sweeting was encouraged to go for a risky 180 beforehand by the raucous crowd and followed up with a celebration by Chelsea's Cole Palmer.

19:46 GMT - What a set that is as De Graaf rattles off three straight legs and just about survives to square things up at 1-1.

Sweeting had his chances to claim the set but is eventually denied by De Graaf's excellent 107 finish.

Where does this match go now?

19:40 GMT - Goodness me. We have a bit of a ding-dong here as Sweeting misses three darts to take the second set before De Graaf nails the leg to keep himself in it.

Sweeting definitely poses a threat, but that could have been a big chance to pad his lead a bit.

19:30 GMT - Sweeting snags the first set in brilliant fashion after pouncing on De Graaf's errors!

Incredibly, the man from the Bahamas takes the opening stanza despite averaging a hair over 70.

19:24 GMT - Sweeting gets off the mark in response to De Graaf's opening leg.

He was very shaky in the first but needs all three darts on double 10 in what should be a nerve-settler.

19:19 GMT - Let's get Tuesday evening going, shall we? Sweden's Jeffrey de Graaf is set to take on Rashad Sweeting of the Bahamas.

The winner here will earn a second-round match-up against two-time winner Gary Anderson, which will be played on Sunday.

18:57 GMT - An introduction to Fallon Sherrock perhaps? Not that she really needs one...

Sherrock launched herself to stardom at the World Championship in 2020 after becoming the first female player to win a match at Alexandra Palace.

The 'Queen of the Palace' won a further match to reach the third round where she eventually bowed out.

Sherrock hasn't progressed past round one since – can she jump that hurdle tonight?

18:42 GMT - The session begins with Jeffrey de Graaf against Rashad Sweeting, who is already a history-maker by becoming the first person from the Bahamas to play at the World Championship.

Next is Ricardo Pietreczko versus Zong Xiao Chen, followed by the dubbed 'Queen of the Palace' Fallon Sherrock facing Ryan Meikle, as she looks to embark on a magic run similar to 2020.

The winner of that one will face Luke Littler in the second round on Saturday.

The night ends with two-time champion Peter Wright against Wesley Plaisier – a pretty key match for 'Snakebite' given his rather wretched year.

18:30 GMT - Welcome back to Flashscore's coverage of the World Darts Championship – live from London's Alexandra Palace!

We're preparing for more tungsten ahead of the evening session which bears some notable names, including Peter Wright and Fallon Sherrock.

Let's dive right in...

16:55 GMT - That'll do it for our World Championship coverage... for now.

We'll be back later for the evening session, which gets underway at around 19:00 GMT.

The likes of Peter Wright and Fallon Sherrock will take to the oche – see you then!

16:50 GMT - An entertaining afternoon session is brought to a close, but this is just the halfway point of today's action.

Recap all four matches with our handy round-up.

16:26 GMT - Luke Woodhouse beats Mike De Decker 3-1, stunning the 24th seed!

De Decker was well-fancied as a title favourite before the tournament, but he's sent home before Christmas.

16:22 GMT - Woodhouse is one leg away from dumping out De Decker!

He brings 132 down to 32 and takes out the double – he will now throw for the match...

16:16 GMT - De Decker has woken up here and produces a strong third set to cut Woodhouse's lead down to 2-1.

The Belgian fires three maximums and wins three legs on the spin to keep himself in this.

16:05 GMT - Woodhouse extends his lead to 2-0 and De Decker is in trouble!

It's not a clean set from Woodhouse but he makes his chances count and is now one away from the third round.

De Decker's average was down at 78 in the set and he'll need a big spark to turn this one around. He's made just one of 12 checkouts.

15:50 GMT - Woodhouse has come out firing here and takes the first set in pretty convincing fashion!

The Englishman misses just one of four checkout attempts while De Decker can only muster up an 86 average so far.

15:43 GMT - De Decker walks out to Bob Marley's 'Three Little Birds' and gets the crowd well up for this one. The Belgian is beaming up on that stage.

15:33 GMT - The afternoon session concludes with World Grand Prix champion Mike De Decker taking on England's Luke Woodhouse in the second round.

De Decker's form has been trending upwards and a deep run could be in the offing here in London.

15:25 GMT - Surviving a few wobbles, Ryan Joyce takes out Darius Labanauskas 3-1 to progress at the World Championship.

Labanauskas made it 1-1 but Joyce's superior finishing sees him move forward.

15:15 GMT - Joyce claims a 2-1 lead over Labanauskas after a very nervy leg!

He was gifted the opportunity to return after his opponent was unable to convert, returning and finishing off the third set.

15:05 GMT - Speaking to the media following her defeat to Kevin Doets, Noa-Lynn van Leuven said a lack of experience caught up with her and put that down to taking a break from the sport.

"I guess the difference is a bit of inexperience," she said afterwards.

"I stopped playing darts for a few years because I was unhappy with myself. Kevin continued playing until he got to the Pro Tour.

"He's got so much more experience than I do. I guess that's what made the difference this game."

14:49 GMT - Labanauskas hits back and levels the match! The Lithuanian scores misses just one shot at the double in a smooth second set where he averaged just shy of 94.

Joyce wasn't afforded a shot at a checkout – could be an interesting one brewing up here.

14:46 GMT - Good scoring to open this one but it's Joyce who takes the first frame over Labanauskas.

Joyce grabbed the first leg with a super 126 finish to prop his average for the set beyond 107.

14:31 GMT - Moving on, Ryan Joyce takes on Darius Labanauskas as we reach the halfway point of the afternoon session.

14:23 GMT - Kevin Doets wins an entertaining affair 3-1 against his Dutch compatriot Noa-Lynn van Leuven.

It wasn't the most clinical display from Doets, but it's job done as he moves into round two to face Michael Smith, who he played last year.

14:13 GMT - Doets is hitting his stride now as he snags the third set to move 2-1 up.

The quality is ramping up now with both players up into the high 90s in terms of averages.

14:02 GMT - Doets takes the set and it's all square at one apiece.

Van Leuven has hit the odd big score but Doets remains composed to level up the match.

14:00 GMT - What a scrappy leg! Doets and Van Leuven are into single figures to take out respectively but both struggle to pin their targets.

It takes a whopping THIRTY THREE darts but Doets eventually takes out double one!

13:49 GMT - Perfect start for Van Leuven as she grabs the first set! She lands a solid 120 checkout to pull ahead before breaking Doets for the frame.

13:38 GMT - Next up, we have an all-Dutch affair between Kevin Doets and Noa-Lynn van Leuven.

Van Leuven is the first transgender darts player to compete at the World Championship and is debuting.

13:30 GMT - James Hurrell takes out Jim Long 3-0! It's a statement win for the Englishman who was untroubled throughout, dropping just one leg.

He earns a bumper second-round clash against Michael van Gerwen on Friday.

13:25 GMT - It's not clicking for Long as he misses three darts at tops allowing Hurrell to return and finish for a 2-0 lead.

Hurrell will throw for the third set and the match...

13:15 GMT - Hurrell is ticking along nicely here and takes a 2-0 lead to move one set away from the second round.

He's averaging in the 90s and there hasn't been much of a response or threat posed by Long as of yet.

12:59 GMT - Hurrell wraps up the first set! Really confident darts and finishing from the Englishman in what is a commanding start.

12:57 GMT - This is a really strong start from Hurrell, who has a two-leg lead in this opening set.

He follows his first 140 with a wonderful 120 – the 'Shanghai finish' – to get the ball rolling.

12:50 GMT - Hurrell follows Long out for the walk-on and we are now underway on day three.

Who will earn the pleasure of facing Van Gerwen later this week?

12:25 GMT - Gearing up for the first match of the day with England's James Hurrell taking on Jim Long of Canada.

Hurrell's best performance at the World Championship in 2022 when he reached the quarter-finals, before losing out to Cameron Menzies.

The winner of this one will earn a second-round clash against Michael van Gerwen on Friday.

11:55 GMT - It was a tough old evening yesterday for Cameron Menzies, who was in tears during the latter stages of his defeat to Leonard Gates.

The Scotsman later took to social media and posted a now-deleted picture of himself next to his father who is in hospital on X.

It was captioned: "I didn't wanna post this man... my dad my hero."

11:15 GMT - Kicking off the afternoon session at around 12:30 GMT is England's James Hurrell against Jim Long before an all-Dutch showdown between Kevin Doets versus Noa-Lynn van Leuven – the first transgender darts player to compete at the World Championship.

Following that, Ryan Joyce takes on Darius Labanauskas before an enticing second-round clash between this year's World Grand Prix champion Mike De Decker and Luke Woodhouse.

In the evening session, Jeffrey de Graaf plays Rashad Sweeting of the Bahamas followed by Ricardo Pietreczko versus Xiaochen Zong.

The dubbed 'Queen of the Palace' Fallon Sherrock then begins her campaign against Ryan Meikle, knowing a win nets a second-round tie against the formidable Luke Littler.

Two-time world champion Peter Wright ends the day's play with a match against Wesley Plaisier.

11:00 GMT - Good morning and welcome to Flashscore's Darts Tracker on day three of the 2024/25 World Darts Championship – live from Alexandra Palace in London!

The second full day is ahead of us and we're hoping for more thrills and spills like we saw throughout yesterday.
