Championship title rivals Leeds and Leicester both face challenging fixtures against in-form sides as both clubs continue their pursuit of an immediate return to the Premier League.

Elsewhere, Inter continue their charge towards being crowned Serie A champions against the last side to beat them, while Dortmund look to re-energise their Bundesliga campaign.

Have a look at the matches Flashscore UK's editors have earmarked this weekend:

Sheffield Wednesday v Leeds - Anthony Paphitis

The next set of Championship fixtures kicks off with an enticing Yorkshire derby on Friday night when Sheffield Wednesday battle with Leeds.

Hillsborough is the setting for a match-up with plenty of significance at both ends of England's second tier.

Hosts Wednesday head into the fixture riding a wave of positivity - on Tuesday earning their fourth straight win to move within touching distance of safety in the table.

Danny Rohl's men are second from bottom on 38 points on goal difference but are only two points off 16th-placed Plymouth to highlight just how tight it is towards the lower end.

London-born Canadian forward Ike Ugbo has been electric during the Owls' winning patch, contributing to four goals and an assist in each of his last four outings.

The chance of moving from 23rd to 16th with a win - albeit briefly - will be at the forefront of Wednesday's minds, but it won't be a given against a promotion-chasing Leeds side.

The Whites have been on a tear in the Championship since the turn of the year, remaining unbeaten in 11 games and racking up 10 wins.

Despite going a little quiet recently, Crysencio Summerville (15G, 8A) remains a huge threat for Leeds and is backed by a strong supporting cast in Georginio Rutter (6G, 12A) and Dan James (11G, 7A).

Victory for Leeds will take them up to second above Ipswich, who travel to Cardiff on Saturday, although they will need to be cautious of their rather patchy head-to-head record against Wednesday.

Both sides played out a 0-0 draw in the reverse fixture at Elland Road, while Leeds have only won two of their last nine trips to Hillsborough.

Hull v Leicester - Brad Ferguson

It's safe to say it's been a strange few weeks for Leicester.

Seemingly running away with the top spot in the Championship for the entire season up until the start of March, a shock run of three defeats on the spin to Middlesbrough, QPR and title rivals Leeds made it look like the wheels hadn't just fallen off their promotion push - they'd burst into flames.

The skid was curtailed somewhat in their last outing as the Foxes came away with a narrow win against Sunderland on Tuesday night, but off-the-field troubles have suddenly reared their ugly head.

News broke on Thursday afternoon that the club are facing a charge for allegedly breaching the Premier League's Profit and Sustainability Rules in their final campaign before they were relegated in the 2022/23 season.

A points deduction therefore seems a given, although it won't have an impact this season, yet should they (and they should) gain immediate promotion back to the Premier League they could very well have their wrists slapped with one come August.

It's not the news Leciester fans nor players needed to hear amidst a mini-crisis of confidence, and a relatively in-form Hull City side will be keen to exploit the worries.

The Tigers are quietly going about their own play-off push impressively, sitting sixth in the league with just one loss in their last nine Championship matches.

They themselves have hit a tiny speedbump, drawing their previous three fixtures, but all the points are adding up and Liam Rosenior's side will look to maintain their strong defensive form which has seen no side breach their backline more than once in any of those previous nine league games.

Leicester's Jamie Vardy appears to be back, fully fit and firing though which could provide the perfect antidote to Hull's potential sting - the 37-year-old has 11 goals in 25 outings this season in the second-tier, and it was his solitary goal that earned his side the victory last time out.

With Ipswich and Leeds now very much breathing Leicester's necks, the Foxes will certainly want to get themselves back up to speed as we enter the business end of the season.

Bologna v Inter - Ste Carson

High-flying Bologna host Serie A leaders Inter this weekend, in what few would have predicted to be a spicy clash before the season began.

Bologna, currently sitting in fourth, have been this term's surprise package – ahead of reigning champions Napoli, Roma, Fiorentina and Lazio.

Inter are poised impressively atop the league table, 15 points ahead of second-placed Juventus and 16 ahead of city rivals Milan in third.

Bologna's home form has been frightening this season as they've stormed to victory in 11 of their last 12 matches on familiar soil.

That said, Inter are in a phenomenal run of form – both home and away – boasting a 14-game unbeaten streak, which includes a victory over Atletico Madrid in the Champions League.

The last team that beat the Nerazzurri? Bologna in the Coppa Italia. It's almost poetic.

For the Rossoblu, Riccardo Orsolini and Joshua Zirkzee have been particularly lively this term – boasting 24 goal contributions between them.

It's no secret that Lautaro Martinez is having a wonderful campaign, with 23 goals to his name, but Inter have also been able to rely on both Marcus Thuram (10G, 7A) and Hakan Calhanoglu (9G, 3A) in big moments.

Unfortunately, Calhanoglu will almost certainly miss this weekend's clash with a hip issue.

Bologna's defence has often been their saving grace, but it will likely be their attack that'll have to step up in order to get a result against the run-away leaders.

Inter are scoring goals for fun at present (18 in their last five matches) and look well-prepared to keep that up.

They also boast Serie A's best defensive record, so there is a mighty task awaiting an admittedly fearsome Bologna this weekend.

Bremen v Dortmund - Ali Pollock

The Bundesliga title race looks to be almost over with Bayer Leverkusen unbeaten and 10 points ahead of Bayern Munich in second place.

Only a mammoth effort from the chasers and a huge falloff for the leaders would see things change – which means the focus can start to shift to other sides in the division.

Borussia Dortmund have fallen slightly flat this season, sitting in fourth place and six points behind Stuttgart in third.

Dortmund standings

They face midtable Werder Bremen this weekend, looking to build momentum for an end-of-season charge towards the top three.

One of the main talking points ahead of the match is Niclaus Fullkrug going up against his former club.

The Dortmund striker is one of the best in the league for combined goals and assists, scoring 11 and setting up eight – which is perhaps overshadowed by the ridiculous form of Bayern forward Harry Kane.

During his time at Bremen, Fullkrug bagged 16 goals in the 2022/23 season, making him the league’s joint-top scorer.

Of course, with Dortmund also comes plenty of other exciting talents like Donyell Malen – who has netted 10 goals in the league – as well as Marco Reus and Julian Brandt.

Bremen aren’t blessed with goal scorers, but Marvin Ducksch is one to watch with nine so far this season.
