After spending 2025/26 in higher-tier continental competitions, Copenhagen and Braga have dropped down to the UEFA Conference League, with both teams expected to progress to the knockout phase.

Match News and Current Form

Copenhagen are taking two steps down after participating in last season’s UEFA Champions League (UCL), in which they finished a lowly 31st in the league phase after securing two wins in eight games (D2, L4). They had to negotiate a domestic play-off and three continental qualifying ties to get here after their worst Danish Superliga campaign in the 21st century, but they have already shown that they should be very competitive in UEFA’s third tier after scoring 17 goals across their six qualifiers this term. While they suffered a setback at the weekend, losing 2-1 at Midtjylland, their 100% record on home soil this season (W7) stands them in good stead ahead of this opening Conference League matchday.

A third straight fourth-placed finish in Liga Portugal bumped Braga from the UEFA Europa League (UEL) to the Conference League after Portugal fell below France in the UEFA club coefficient table. They could therefore be forgiven for feeling that this competition is beneath them after reaching the semi-finals of last season’s UEL, recording their most wins (eight) in a single European main draw campaign. They also flexed their muscles in the Conference League qualifying rounds earlier this term, scoring eight unanswered goals, with their six consecutive clean sheets their longest such streak in continental football since keeping seven in 2008.

Head-to-Head History

This will be the first-ever meeting between these two teams. Copenhagen have never defeated a Portuguese club (D3, L3), while Braga have won three of their four games against Danish sides (L1).

Hot Stats and Streaks

Copenhagen kept a clean sheet in each of their last five competitive wins.

Six of Copenhagen’s last seven European matches produced over 2.5 goals.

Braga kept a clean sheet in six of their last seven competitive wins.

Five of Braga’s six European matches this season featured under 2.5 goals.

Key Players to Watch and Missing Players

Copenhagen’s Viktor Daðason excelled in the UCL last season, with his tally of three goals only behind Lennart Karl (four) and Lamine Yamal (six) for goals scored by teenagers in the competition’s main draw last term. Seven of Pau Víctor’s last eight goals for Braga have come after half-time, with the one exception during that run occurring during Conference League qualifying this season.

Mads Madsen is a doubt here for Copenhagen after missing the game against Midtjylland through illness, while Braga seemingly have no fresh absentees.

Betting Analysis

This game is tough to call, but with the winner likely to keep a clean sheet, backing against both teams to score seems an obvious route to take.
