Having both been involved in European action in midweek, Lille and Lyon get back to Ligue 1 duties after strong starts to the domestic season.

Match News and Current Form

Lille’s unbeaten start to the Ligue 1 season came to a crashing halt when they were thrashed 3-0 by Lens in the Derby du Nord last week, but they’ve since responded by opening their UEFA Europa League campaign by beating Brann 2-1 on Thursday. That result continued a very promising run of form on home turf that’s seen the Mastiffs avoid defeat at Stade Pierre-Mauroy since March (W6, D1), and extending that could be key as Bruno Génésio’s men face a trip to Roma and a clash with French champions PSG in their next two fixtures after this one!

Lyon have also enjoyed a fruitful start to the campaign, and have the opportunity here to open their season with five wins from their first six matches for the first time since 2008/09! Like their hosts, they too have shown resilience after a recent 3-1 defeat to Rennes, winning back-to-back games by a 1-0 scoreline, most recently seeing off Utrecht in the Europa League on Thursday. That came on the road, but domestic success on their travels has been hard to come by for Les Gones, who’ve lost seven of their last 12 away games in Ligue 1 (W4, D1).

Head-to-Head History

Lille have won just one of the last eight H2Hs between the sides across all competitions (D3, L4). Six of the last seven of those meetings saw both teams score.
