Luke Littler registered his fifth nightly win on Thursday, leapfrogging Jonny Clayton at the summit of the Premier League table in the process. Both players have now qualified for the Playoffs following last week’s events in Aberdeen, despite Clayton losing to a resurgent Gian van Veen early on.

The race to secure the remaining two qualification spots could go down to the wire. Gerwyn Price has a slight buffer in third, but only two points separate fourth-placed Michael van Gerwen from talented youngster Gian van Veen and defending champion Luke Humphries

Thursday night potentially provides a golden opportunity for the chasing pack. With ‘Mighty Mike’ facing an in-form Littler in the quarter finals, the legendary Dutchman is staring down the barrel of a third first-round exit in the space of four weeks.

Furthermore, the two players currently occupying fifth and sixth position have a favourable quarter-final draw. Humphries will undoubtedly fancy his chances against rock-bottom Josh Rock, while van Veen is the clear favourite in his encounter with Stephen Bunting

The last remaining quarter-final meeting is an all-Welsh affair, as Gerwyn Price and Jonny Clayton clash for the first time since the third week of the campaign.

What happened in Aberdeen on Night 13?

Although he was subjected to another barrage of boos from a Premier League audience, Luke Littler effortlessly kept his composure at the P&J Arena. The back-to-back world champion made light work of Josh Rock, before defeating Gerwyn Price – for the 15th time in the last 16 matches between the pair – at the semi-final stage.

That meant a showdown with World Cup partner-in-crime Luke Humphries, who had earlier beaten Dutch duo Michael van Gerwen and Gian van Veen by the same 6-3 scoreline.

Those victories not only gave him a major boost in his quest to qualify for this month’s title decider at the O2 Arena, they also ensured ‘Cool Hand’ advanced to just his second Premier League final of the season.

Having been thrashed 6-1 by Jonny Clayton at the Nottingham Arena in his first, the 2025 World Masters winner would have been determined to achieve a more positive outcome this time around.

However, it was Littler who started the final like a man on a mission. The teenage sensation hit an 11-darter in the opening leg, closing out on double tops to take an early lead.

With both players producing some scintillating darts throughout the initial exchanges, Humphries delivered a 130 checkout to make it 2-2 after four legs. It was then the world number two’s turn to close out 501 in just four visits to the oche, taking just ten darts to secure the seventh leg and, in doing so, nudge himself into a 4-3 lead.

A subsequent hold of throw took Humphries to the cusp of victory, but, like we’ve seen on so many occasions throughout this campaign, Littler rallied when it mattered most.

After finishing from 88 to get back within touching distance, the two-time UK Open winner levelled things up by pinning double 16 in clinical fashion. Littler exuded confidence right throughout the tie, even when he missed two match darts in the decider.

With Humphries unable to exploit his small window of opportunity, Littler struck double ten at the third attempt to seal yet another Premier League triumph.

Elsewhere, Stephen Bunting succumbed to a third consecutive quarter-final defeat despite taking Gerwyn Price to a deciding leg, while Jonny Clayton fell at the first hurdle for the first time since Night 9 by losing 6-2 to Gian van Veen.
