Arsenal will travel to Budapest to take on PSG in the UEFA Champions League final. This final will either crown a reigning, defending champion or an inaugural one.

PSG will be the first team to retain the UCL since Real Madrid's threepeat from 2016 to 2018. If Arsenal win, this will be the first time they have lifted the prestigious trophy and the first new winner since PSG, themselves, last year.

The two meet in a repeat of the UCL semi-finals last year, with Arsenal eager to rewrite the story and PSG looking for more of the same.

PSG’s route to the final

The defending champions have marched their way to the final in all their attacking glory. The Parisians have scored 44 goals in the competition so far, and are just one short of the all-time record in a single season. They have scored 18 goals in the last three rounds, seeing off Chelsea, Liverpool and Bayern Munich to make it to the final.

It was not the smoothest start in the league phase for PSG, who finished 11th (4W, 2D, 2L) and had to go into the play-offs, where they managed to beat Monaco. After that, they really got into their stride and now head to Budapest as the favourites.

Arsenal’s route to the final

Arsenal are unbeaten in this year’s UCL. They topped the league phase, so skipped the play-offs, and then went on to beat Bayer Leverkusen, Sporting Lisbon and Atletico Madrid to make it to their first UCL final in 22 years.

They have only conceded an average of 0.43 goals per match, so we have a final that pits the best attack against the best defence.

The Gunners have the unwanted record of being the side that has played the most games without ever lifting the trophy (225), and have lost their last four games in major European finals.

Key players

With this being the best attack versus the best defence, all eyes will be on PSG’s forward line and Arsenal’s back line.

Ousmane Dembele, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, and Desire Doue are a dynamic, enterprising attacking trio who have been devastating again this season. Kvaratskhelia, in particular, has shown himself to be a standout this season, being involved in more goals than any other player in the 2025/26 UCL knockout phase (10), scoring seven times and delivering three assists. He is also the first player to score or assist in seven consecutive knockout stage appearances in the same UCL campaign.

Arsenal’s David Raya has kept nine clean sheets in the UCL this season, with no goalkeeper ever recording 10 shutouts in a single campaign. You imagine he will have his work cut out for him again, but with Gabriel and William Saliba in front of him, Raya will feel confident he can make it to double-figure clean sheets.

Where to watch
