With thousands of fans, hundreds of television broadcasters, and a fair few celebrities descending on the host city, the fixture is a huge income generator for local businesses, including the club leasing out their home stadium.
So, which locations have the privilege of staging the 2025, 2026 and 2027 Champions League finals?
When and where will the 2025 Champions League final be held?
Later this month, Paris Saint-Germain and Inter Milan will contest the 2025 Champions League final at Bayern Munich’s Allianz Arena. The Parisians progressed to the showpiece thanks to a hard-earned victory over Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal, while Inter Milan booked their tickets to Germany following two thrilling encounters with Barcelona.
Located in Munich’s northern suburbs, the imposing Allianz Arena was opened in May 2005. On the day of its unveiling, an exhibition match between 1860 Munich – who were initially joint tenants with their giant cross-city rivals – and fellow Bavarians FC Nürnberg took place. The hosts ran out 3-2 winners. Since then, the Allianz Arena has hosted a series of high-profile events as well as becoming the first venue to witness fixtures in consecutive European Championships. Having been used for several group-stage matches in each tournament, the dome-shaped stadium was selected to host the Euro 2020 quarter-final clash between Belgium and Italy and Spain’s semi-final meeting with France at Euro 2024.
Almost thirteen years have now passed since Bayern Munich suffered a heartbreaking defeat to Chelsea on home soil, the last time a Champions League final was held at this venue. Ivorian striker Didier Drogba stole the show on that occasion, heading home a late equaliser in regulation time before converting the winning spot-kick in the subsequent shootout.
The Allianz Arena will house 70,000 boisterous Paris Saint-Germain and Inter Milan fans on Saturday, May 31st, 2025, as two European heavyweights pursue Champions League glory in the Bavarian capital. The keenly anticipated clash will be played at 8.00pm, only several hours before the stadium celebrates its 20th anniversary.

When and where will the 2026 Champions League final be held?
Next summer, the 71st final of Europe’s most prestigious club competition – and the 34th since the Champions League rebrand – will take place at the Puskás Aréna. Located in the Zugló district of Budapest’s eastern suburbs, the arena is located at the former site of the demolished Ferenc Puskás Stadium, which served as one of Hungary’s key sporting venues throughout the second half of the twentieth century.
Within seven months of its official opening date, the 67,000-seater stadium – named after former Real Madrid icon Ferenc Puskás – staged the opening fixture of Group F at the 2020 European Championships. After Hungary were comfortably beaten by Cristiano Ronaldo’s Portugal on native soil, the Puskás Aréna staged three more fixtures (two further group stage ties and a Round of 16 clash between the Netherlands and the Czech Republic) before the tournament’s conclusion.
It hosted the delayed UEFA Super Cup final later that year, which saw Bayern Munich overcome Sevilla thanks to Javi Martínez’s extra-time winner. The Andalusians would have a fair better experience on their next visit to the Puskás Aréna, defeating Roma in a nerve-shredding penalty shootout to clinch a record-extending seventh UEFA Cup/Europa League title in May 2023.
The 2026 Champions League final is scheduled for Saturday, May 30th, although the kick-off time is yet to be announced.
Dates and venues of the other major European finals in 2026 (kick-off times TBC):
UEFA Europa League: Beşiktaş Stadium, Istanbul (Wednesday, May 20th)
UEFA Conference League: Red Bull Arena, Leipzig (Wednesday, May 27th)
UEFA Women's Champions League: Ullevaal Stadion, Oslo (Friday, May 22nd)
When and where will the 2027 Champions League final be held?
The Giuseppe Meazza Stadium – most commonly known as the San Siro – was due to stage the 2027 Champions League final, but UEFA abandoned this plan last September following concerns regarding upcoming refurbishment works. A new host venue is expected to be announced imminently, with two potential locations in the running.
The most likely destination is Atlético Madrid’s Metropolitano Stadium, which can seat over 70,000 spectators at its maximum capacity. Should the 2027 showpiece take place at the home of Los Colchoneros, it’ll be the sixth time a European Cup/Champions League final has been contested in the Spanish capital – the Santiago Bernabéu hosted each of the first four. However, the Baku Olympic Stadium is reportedly also under consideration. Constructed just over a decade ago, the 68,700-seater arena is the largest sporting venue in the Caucasus.
Both prospective venues hosted major European finals in 2019, as four Premier League clubs vied for continental silverware. Four days after Chelsea claimed a second Europa League title by thumping familiar foes Arsenal in the Azerbaijani capital, goals from Mohamed Salah and Divock Origi at the beginning and end of the Champions League final ensured Liverpool overcame Tottenham Hotspur at the Metropolitano Stadium.
Dates and venues of the other major European finals in 2027 (kick-off times TBC):
UEFA Europa League: Waldstadion, Frankfurt (Wednesday, May 26th)
UEFA Conference League: Beşiktaş Stadium, Istanbul (Wednesday, June 2nd)
UEFA Women's Champions League: Venue yet to be announced. Four UEFA member associations have bid to host the final, with the following stadiums proposed: Stadion Narodowy (Warsaw), Camp Nou (Barcelona), St. Jakob-Park (Basel), Millennium Stadium (Cardiff)
The outcome of the tendering process is expected to be announced soon.
