22:59 BST - That's it for this evening, thanks for joining us. We'll be back this weekend as the Premier League continues its hurtling run towards a thrilling finish on both sides of the table. See you soon!
22:53 BST - Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner is delighted that his final game in charge of Crystal Palace will be a chance to help deliver another piece of silverware for the club.
"It's my fourth consecutive final in my fourth consecutive full season; Europa League, German Cup, FA Cup and now this," he told TNT Sports.
"It's massive for me personally. Everyone around me knows that when I announced to leave, it was my duty to work even harder and deliver as a manager to make our fans proud.
"We have three weeks to prepare and analyse Rayo Vallecano, a very good team.
"It will be fantastic. You always want your last game to be for something, for silverware. I promise that we will give everything we have to bring it back to Selhurst."
22:47 BST - Nottingham Forest boss Vitor Pereira pointed to his side's Premier League victory over Chelsea on Monday as one of the reasons they struggled this evening, but maintains he is proud of his players and the club's fans.
"Playing against Chelsea and then travelling again to come here after three days, it was not possible," he told TNT Sports.
"I'm very proud of our supporters, they tried on this long road to help us, but it was not possible.
"It is a pity but I am proud of my players because they tried everything."
22:44 BST - Aston Villa hero John McGinn admitted that nerves were a problem before tonight's game.
“I’m normally quite calm before games, but today I was nervous," he told TNT Sports. "Tonight was up with one of the best performances I’ve seen from a Villa team for a long time.
“I wasn’t nervous in terms of the team turning up. We’ve turned up in big games, maybe just not in big semi-finals.
“The injuries Forest have had maybe helped decide it, but we needed to capitalise – and we did. The atmosphere in here was electric.
“Anything can happen in a game. You can get somebody sent off in the first 10 minutes, first 15. We didn’t want to leave these games with any regrets, and I think we’ve done ourselves massive justice."
22:33 BST - And here are the best bits from Aston Villa's big victory:
22:31 BST - You can now relive Crystal Palace's 2-1 win here:
22:15 BST - And here's what the numbers say about Aston Villa's win:
- Ollie Watkins and John McGinn have both now scored five goals in the 2025/26 UEFA Europa League, no Aston Villa player has more.
- Aston Villa have scored in 13 of their 14 games, no team has done so more often in the UEFA Europa League.
- Emiliano Buendia is the first player to both score and assist in a UEFA Europa League semi-final match for an English club since both Bruno Fernandes and Edinson Cavani for Manchester United against Roma in April 2021.
22:09 BST - Some stats from Crystal Palace's victory:
- Ismaïla Sarr has scored in his last five games in the UEFA Conference League (six goals in total).
- Sarr has scored nine goals in total in the 2025 UEFA Conference League (one in this game), more than any other player.
- Crystal Palace have scored in 12 of their 14 games, more often than any other team in the UEFA Conference League this season.
22:03 BST - That all means that Aston Villa will face Freiburg in the Europa League final in Istanbul on Wednesday 20 May, and the Conference League final will be contested by Crystal Palace and Rayo Vallecano in Leipzig on Wednesday 27 May.
21:58 BST - FULL-TIME! Aston Villa are through to the Europa League final! It had been looking likely ever since they took a 2-1 lead, but those two clinical goals from John McGinn made sure of it. They will face Freiburg in the final after the German club overturned a 1-0 deficit from the first leg to win 4-3 on aggregate - thanks largely to an early Braga red card this evening. Click here for our full report.

21:51 BST - FULL-TIME! Crystal Palace are through to the Conference League final, and we will have a Premier League team in all three European finals. A 2-1 win on the night made it a 5-2 victory in the tie. It looks like they will face Rayo Vallecano in the final. Click here for the Flashscore report.

21:43 BST - GOAL! John McGinn has another! He gets the ball in the same spot, but this time picks the bottom right corner, and that's enough to get his side into the Europa League final!
21:39 BST - GOAL! Aston Willa are 3-0 up! John McGinn has placed the ball in the bottom left corner to give his side a 3-1 lead in the tie. Huge goal, and it came off the back of a good team move which saw Morgan Rogers head down to Ollie Watkins, who then played McGinn in.
21:34 BST - GOAL! Lukas Kubler has scored his second goal of the night to give Freiburg a 3-0 lead on the night and a 4-2 lead overall. That red card has cost Braga hugely.
21:21 BST - GOAL! Aston Villa are 2-0 up after Emiliano Buendia converted from the spot. Villa Park is absolutely bouncing - a far cry from the atmosphere that befell the place in their loss to Spurs. Even the future King of England is up on his feet!
21:19 BST - PENALTY! Aston Villa have a chance to make it 2-0! Nikola Milenkovic makes a clumsy and unnecessary challenge on Pau Torres in the box.
21:11 BST - GOAL! Crystal Palace have reinstated their one-goal lead at Selhurst Park, which gives them a three-goal cushion in the tie. Ismaila Sarr is the man to make it 2-1 to the hosts on the night.
21:06 BST - We are back underway!
20:50 BST - HALF-TIME: We have reached half-time across the board, and the big news is that Aston Villa have taken a 1-0 lead on the night which has levelled their tie with Nottingham Forest.
Elsewhere, Crystal Palace are currently 1-1 against Shakhtar at the break, which means they currently retain the two-goal advantage they brought in from the first leg. Meanwhile, Freiburg are 2-0 up against 10-man Braga to lead by a goal in the tie, while Rayo Vallecano lead Strasbourg 1-0 on the night and 2-0 overall.
20:41 BST - In the other Europa League semi-final, Freiburg are taking advantage of Mario Dorgeles's early red card for Braga to take a 2-1 lead on the night which has turned the tie back in their favour.
20:38 BST - GOAL! Ollie Watkins has put Aston Villa 1-0 ahead against Nottingham Forest which levels the tie at one-apiece! Watkins had an exchange with Emiliano Buendia, with the latter beating a few defenders before crossing back to his teammate for a huge goal in this tie.
20:36 BST - GOAL! Eguinaldo has levelled things up for Shakhtar with a quite briliant strike.
20:28 BST - GOAL! Crystal Palace finally do have their opening goal, which has come via a Pedro Henrique own goal. The hosts broke down the right, and after a Wharton shot at goal, Daniel Munoz followed up to strike one that the goalkeeper bundled into his own net.
20:13 BST - NO GOAL! As so often happens these days, VAR has taken a look and ruled the goal out for offside.
20:10 BST - GOAL! Yeremy Pino has put Crystal Palace 1-0 up on the night, which gives them a 4-1 aggregate lead. That will be exactly what Oliver Glasner was hoping for.
20:08 BST - We'll mostly be keeping you abreast of what's happening in the games involving Premier League teams, but it's worth mentioning that Braga's Mario Dorgeles has already seen a red card in their game against Freiburg. Not the start they would have wanted!
20:00 BST - And we are underway!

19:02 BST - So in the two games that are involving the Premier League sides, here's how they will look when they take the pitch.
Aston Villa v Nottingham Forest

Crystal Palace v Shakhtar Donetsk

18:50 BST - Here's who Oliver Glasner has given the nod to at Crystal Palace:
18:48 BST - And here's the line-up for Nottingham Forest:
18:46 BST - Team news is now coming in, and here's who will take the field for Aston Villa this evening:
18:32 BST - All of that means that at the end of this evening, there could well be a Premier League team in each of Europe's three finals. With Arsenal already there, and a guaranteed place in the Europa League final, that just leaves Palace with a job to do to complete the trio.
18:09 BST - Good evening and welcome along for another exciting evening of European football action. We are guaranteed to have at least one Premier League team in the Europa League final with Aston Villa hosting Nottingham Forest in the second leg of their semi-final at Villa Park. The first leg was won 1-0 by Forest, who join tonight's hosts in wanting to reignite the glory days of European success in the 1980s.
In the other semi-final, Braga bring a 2-1 advantage into the second leg of their last-four encounter with Freiburg this evening.
Over in the Conference League, Crystal Palace will be hoping to book their place in the final by capitalising on the 3-1 victory they enjoyed over Shakhtar Donetsk last week, when they play host at Selhurst Park tonight.
