Barcelona face Alaves in LaLiga after two losses in a week halted their seemingly unstoppable momentum. It is no shame to lose to PSG and Real Madrid, two of the best teams in the world, but Barca will hope to return to their fluid best when they host Alaves at the Camp Nou.

Alaves would seem like big underdogs in this game. Despite sitting seventh in the table, the Basque side have not won in their last six games (4L, 2D), and have the third-worst form in the league. To get something at the Camp Nou would be a surprise, especially since they have not got any points there since 2016, when they won 2-1.

Barcelona team news

The news coming from the Barca camp is that defender Xavi Espart is facing seven weeks on the sidelines after coming off with an ankle injury against Real Madrid. Alejandro Balde is the natural replacement for Espart, especially with Eric Garcia and Jules Kounde out.

Dani Olmo and Roony Bardghji are definitely out, with Andreas Christensen a doubt. Frenkie de Jong is back, ready for selection, but is expected to start on the bench again.

Alaves team news

Ahead of their trip to Catalonia, Alaves look to have no fresh issues. This means that Facundo Garces remains on the sidelines with an otherwise healthy squad.

If Alaves are to get anything out of this match, they will be relying on striker Lucas Boye, their top scorer in the 2026/27 LaLiga season with five goals. Over his career, he has played eight games in the competition against Barcelona but has never scored. They will be hopeful he will put an end to that record on Saturday.

Head-to-head

Alaves are on their longest winless run away from home against Barcelona in LaLiga since a 2-1 victory in September 2016 (P8 D1 L7). Back then, Mauricio Pellegrino was in charge of Alaves, and Luis Enrique was the Barcelona manager.

Despite the away record, Alaves defeated Barcelona in May this year, winning 1-0 at home and breaking a 16-game winless streak against the champions (14L, 2D). Barca have only lost consecutive games against them in the competition on one previous occasion (two defeats between 1999 and 2000).

Barcelona vs Alaves: Betting odds

Barcelona are the favourites to win, coming in at 1/10 at bet365, compared to 20/1 for an Alavés win. A draw is at 17/2.
