The new campaign is starting to pick up pace and a midweek fixture card helps to further build momentum, even though it arrives just before the longest international break in recent memory.

The battle at the top of the table continues, while at the bottom several teams already look like potential relegation candidates. Here are our predictions for LaLiga's sixth matchday.

Rayo Vallecano v Espanyol, Tuesday, 18:00 (BST)

Rayo Vallecano - Espanyol
Rayo Vallecano - EspanyolFlashscore

Things kick off with Espanyol visiting Rayo, although unfortunately not at the Vallecas Stadium. The Madrid side have had a tough start to the season, but are still managing to pick up points at home (W1, D1). A strong attacking outfit, they've scored in all five of their matches to date.

Espanyol have struggled away from home at the start of this campaign and we don’t expect them to take all three points here, although Manolo’s side are capable enough of earning a draw. That said, Espanyol have won in two of their last three visits to Rayo.

Nevertheless, Rayo have a superior recent record in this fixture, which has seen them consistently score between one and three goals.

Prediction: Double Chance – Rayo Vallecano or Draw and Home Match Goals Range 1-3: 10/19 (bet365)

Explanation: This bet lands if Rayo Vallecano do not lose the match and score exactly one, two, or three goals in the process.

Elche v Real Madrid, Tuesday, 20:30 (BST)

Elche - Real Madrid
Elche - Real MadridFlashscore

There were four or more goals in both of last season's meetings between Real Madrid and Elche.

Furthermore, all but one of Elche's matches this season have produced over two goals, while the same can be said about Real Madrid's opening set of five fixtures.

Therefore, we expect at least three total goals in this match.

Prediction: Over 2.5 Goals: 4/11 (bet365)

Explanation: This bet lands if there are over two goals in the match, regardless of the final result.

Atlético Madrid v Osasuna, Wednesday, 18:00 (BST)

Atlético - Osasuna
Atlético - OsasunaFlashscore

At their best when performing on home soil, Atléti are expected to comfortably beat Osasuna at the Metropolitano.

Some recent slip-ups by the Rojiblancos have widened the odds on a home win, so it might be worth taking advantage of what is a very attractive price.

Simeone's men have won nine of their last ten meetings with Osasuna in the Spanish capital, with the only exception coming towards the end of the 2023/24 campaign, when Atléti had little to play for.

Prediction: Atlético Madrid to win: 8/15 (bet365)

Explanation: This bet lands if Atlético Madrid win the match.

Deportivo La Coruña v Sevilla, Wednesday, 18:00 (BST)

Deportivo - Sevilla
Deportivo - SevillaFlashscore

This is the first clash between these two sides for some time. The Galicians host the travelling Andalusians, with both teams having made a positive start to the season. Both teams have scored in all but one of Sevilla's matches, with Friday's 1-0 victory over Valencia being the only exception.

Ahead of Sunday's contest with Getafe, both teams have scored in all four of Deportivo La Coruña's opening LaLiga contests

Prediction: Both Teams to Score (BTTS): 19/20 (bet365)

Explanation: This bet lands if both teams score at least once, regardless of the final result.

Barcelona v Racing Santander, Wednesday, 20:00 (BST)

Barcelona - Racing
Barcelona - RacingFlashscore

Four of Racing Santander's five league matches have produced three or more goals, as have all of Barcelona's games so far this season. The Catalans have also scored between two and five goals in each one of their league outings, so the odds for this outcome occurring again are relatively tight.

However, combining two separate goals markets in this scenario offers some decent value.

Prediction: Over 2.5 Goals and Home Match Goals Range 2-5: 10/21 (bet365)

Explanation: This bet lands if there are three or more goals in the match, providing Barcelona score exactly two, three, four, or five goals.

Real Betis v Getafe, Thursday, 18:00 (BST)

Betis - Getafe
Betis - GetafeFlashscore

Real Betis have made a solid start to the season, while Getafe have struggled in recent weeks. The Andalusians have been particularly strong at home, securing maximum points in both of their matches at the Estadio La Cartuja thanks to triumphs over Real Sociedad and Real Madrid.

Getafe have lost four of their last six away fixtures against Betis, including each of the last two, while Manuel Pellegrini's men have already proven they can handle a busy fixture schedule in the wake of Tuesday's impressive 3-2 victory over Lille.

Prediction: Real Betis to win: 4/5 (bet365)

Explanation: This bet lands if Real Betis win the match.

Málaga v Villarreal, Thursday, 20:30 (BST)

Málaga - Villarreal
Málaga - VillarrealFlashscore

An intriguing fixture closes out the midweek action, as Málaga take on Villarreal at the Estadio La Rosaleda. The Andalusians have been short on goals despite consistently playing well, although they'll fancy themselves to find the net against a fragile Villarreal defence.

Having scored in all but one of their opening four league fixtures, Villarreal are evidencing their strong attacking capabilities despite struggling to pick up points.

Prediction: Both Teams to Score (BTTS): 4/7 (bet365)

Explanation: This bet lands if both teams score, regardless of the final result.
