Forlan has always been a force of nature. A powerful attacker, fast, with a great touch, and an eye for goal.
That power has made him, at 45 years of age - and five years after hanging up his boots - embark on the adventure of playing tennis in masters-level tournaments.
The former Uruguay international, who played for Villarreal and Atletico Madrid, among others, is in Lima, the capital of Peru, competing in the city's MT1000 45+.
And he's not doing badly, as he has won his first two matches, conceding just three games to his opponents.
'Cachavacha', who has a 7-3 record, started the tournament as the 15th seed and ranked 438th in the ITF rankings for his age category.
In the first round, he beat Chile's Gonzalo Carreno with ease (6-0, 6-2). In the second round, he defeated Peruvian Jorge Hernandez (6-0, 6-1).
Forlan, as was the case when he was a professional footballer, is noted for his strength (in his forehand on this occasion).
In the third round, he will put that drive to the test against the tournament's fifth seed - Pablo Rojas-Holch.
