City take on Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium as they aim to keep up with league leaders Arsenal, who face already relegated Burnley on Monday night.
Guardiola’s already exhausted side will be playing their third game in six days following the FA Cup final in what has been a relentless schedule for the Citizens.
Will Guardiola watch the Arsenal clash?
Speaking first on how tired his side are, Guardiola revealed that yesterday was a recovery day as he also added whether he will watch the Arsenal clash in hopes they drop points.
“I don't train much, we need energy for tomorrow," he said. "For the last game, we have more time to prepare better. Sometimes when you have alternatives, the tactics are important, but regrettably we have already talked a lot for the last month about what we have to do."
"I don’t know, maybe. I will take a look for sure. But the job to see what I have to show the players about Bournemouth is still not done, so we’ll see.
“It’s important to arrive at the end with options. All we want is, with our people in the last game, is to be fighting, to extend it for four or five days to Aston Villa."
The schedule is getting to Guardiola and his side
Bournemouth boast the longest Premier League unbeaten run of any team this season with 16 games without a loss. As Guardiola tries to allow his side some rest, the run doesn’t get easier as he mulls over the poor schedule his side are enduring.
"It's always difficult (against Bournemouth), it always has been," he said. "Last season it was one of our worst performances in the Premier League. And when we played in the quarter-finals of the FA Cup last season, we played really good, so we'll see which phase we can do tomorrow.
“We’ve had three days (since the FA Cup final). They’ve had 10 days to prepare for the game and they play to qualify for the Champions League, so I think they have an argument to be the best version of Bournemouth, and I’m pretty sure that’s going to happen.
“Bournemouth are 17 games unbeaten, so the run is unbelievable. This season again, what they have done with losing three players from the back four who had success last season, and still again they do it.
“The only chance we have (to win the league) is to win the game so we have to break that run, otherwise it will be over.”
