Manchester United to win

United are short favourites at 9/25, and the numbers back that up. They've never lost an opening-day fixture against a promoted side, winning nine and drawing three of their 12 such meetings.

Hull have failed to beat them in 10 previous Premier League meetings, losing eight of them. Carrick himself has a strong personal record against Hull too, winning four of his six managerial meetings with them across all competitions and remaining unbeaten in three trips to the MKM Stadium.
