Chelsea boss Liam Rosenior has spoken to the media as he prepares to face Brighton on Tuesday night.

After slumping to a 1-0 home defeat against Manchester United on Saturday night, Chelsea are the only side to lose each of their last four Premier League fixtures.

Chelsea lost five of their last six games in all tournaments and have failed to score in all five of those defeats as Rosenior fails to breathe life into a side that are now far from claiming Champions League football.

The fight for a Champions League spot

Rosenior, who is still reportedly backed by the board, first spoke on getting fans back on his side and the challenge of grabbing a place in the top five in the table.

"We've made it hard for ourselves, we can't give up, we have to keep fighting. We didn't keep a clean sheet and didn't take advantage of our chances (against Manchester United)."

"We have to win. That is what this club demands and rightfully so and that is what the fans expect. It is about winning football. That is what football is about. You can't speak about long-term if you aren't doing the job in the short-term.

"Being really respectfully honest here, we haven't done well in recent games and that is on my shoulders as the head coach of the team."

Rosenior has been impressed by Brighton

Brighton enter the clash after snatching a last-gasp equaliser away at Tottenham to earn a 2-2 draw. The Seagulls’ own European hopes are coming alive, something Rosenior is impressed by.

"I watched it (their last game) live before our game and we have analysed that and many more. Fabian (Hurzeler) is doing a fantastic job."

On analysing Chelsea's recent performances: "We do a lot of information gathering. We look at data and we analyse games, but a lot of it comes down to moments. Manchester United had one shot on target so we have to make sure in the key moments we keep the back door shot and give ourselves a chance by scoring the first goal of the game."

Chelsea board back Rosenior

Finally, despite fans being furious with Rosenior and his side failing to improve in recent weeks, he next revealed that he has the full backing of the board, who sacked Enzo Maresca earlier this year.

"100 per cent. They have been supportive of me and our daily conversations have been supportive. We know we want to win games of football in the now, but that doesn't go against the fact we want success in the long-term."
