Spanish police on Wednesday searched the headquarters of the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) in Madrid as part of an alleged corruption investigation, the prosecutor's office said.

As reported by Agencia EFE in the last couple of hours, and confirmed by Flashscore, the police have been searching the RFEF headquarters since this morning in connection with an investigation into alleged irregular contracts over the last five years. As part of this search for evidence, reports EFE, a number of arrests have been made already.

Flashscore has also learned that arrests have also been made at the Granada Football Federation, which could be directly related to what is happening in Madrid. Luis Rubiales, the former president of the RFEF, currently lives in Granada.

As part of the operation, searches and arrests are being carried out in various parts of Spain. The court leading the investigation is the one that initiated the investigation into the awarding of the Spanish Super Cup to Saudi Arabia, jointly signed by Rubiales and former FC Barcelona player Gerard Pique.

Now, more than a dozen searches and at least half a dozen arrests are expected in an operation in which various public and private entities will be subpoenaed.

Three arrests confirmed

Flashscore has learned that, for the moment, three arrests have been confirmed in the framework of the investigation for alleged crimes related to corruption in business, unfair administration and money laundering since this morning. Our sources point out that there could be more.

Rubiales' home being searched

The programme 'Al Rojo Vivo' on La Sexta has reported that Rubiales' home in Granada is also being searched. There, the UCO is requesting various documents and contracts from the period under investigation.
