Ivory Coast v Norway tips

Norway to qualify @ 1/2 (bet365)

Both teams to score @ 3/4 (bet365)

Haaland to score first @ 11/4 (bet365)

To qualify - Norway

My first suggested bet ahead of Tuesday's match is Norway to qualify.

If you decide to follow, please don't mix up the 'Norway to qualify' market with the 'Norway to win' option. Both require the Norwegians to book a spot in the round of 16, but our approach offers your stake a little more protection.

You'll secure a profit if Norway beat the Ivory Coast in 90 minutes, extra-time or on penalties. The 'to qualify' market becomes more important now that we're into the knockout rounds.

Why am I supporting Stale Solbakken's men? In a word, value. I expected Norway's odds to be shorter than the 1/2 currently available, making them the obvious pick.

The team ranked 31st in the world by FIFA got here the hard way, and then impressed in Group I. Like their opponents, the Norwegians won two of three group matches, but there's a major difference.

Norway hammered Iraq 4-1 and caught the eye when beating Senegal 3-2. The Ivory Coast failed to convince in wins over Ecuador 1-0 and Curacao 2-0. I stick with the more impressive of the two teams.

Tip: Norway to qualify @ 1/2 (bet365)

Bet explanation: You'll make a profit if Norway beat the Ivory Coast in 90 minutes, extra-time or on penalties.

Both teams to score - Yes

Moving to the second of my data-led predictions, it's on both the Ivory Coast and Norway to score at least one goal each in regulation time.

With the both teams to score market, you're not too bothered by which nation wins, by how many goals, and who scores. A 3-1 for Norway pays the same as a 2-1 win for the Ivory Coast or a 3-3 draw. As long as both teams register at least one goal, you'll bag a profit.

When running through the numbers, I noticed Norway scored eight goals. That's more than Mexico, Brazil, and Belgium. However, they conceded seven goals. That's more than many of the teams that finished bottom of their pools, including Saudi Arabia and Jordan.

The Ivory Coast, known across the beautiful game as 'The Elephants', pushed Germany hard in Toronto in week two. They opened the scoring on 30 minutes, before the Germans turned things around with a late double.

Results show that the Ivory Coast scored against Germany, beat France in a World Cup warm-up, and netted a couple against Egypt in the quarter-finals of the African Nations earlier this year. That convinces me that they can score against Norway, too.

Tip: Both teams to score @ 3/4 (bet365)

Bet explanation: Norway and the Ivory Coast must score at least one goal each.

First goalscorer - Haaland

It'll come as no surprise to regular followers of my World Cup 2026 previews at Flashscore to see me sign off with a bet at higher odds.

I like to end on something a tad more exciting when possible, and make Erling Haaland scoring first worth a wager.

The towering striker, born in West Yorkshire, England, but leading the line for The Vikings, has five goals in his last four games for club and country. Going back further, I count 12 goals in 12 games. Talk about trusting the form.

Haaland got his World Cup 2026 campaign off to a thrilling start when bagging a brace in his nation's 4-1 win over Iraq. The 25-year-old then added another couple as Norway edged Senegal by the odd goal in five.

OK, so the stats show Haaland can be trusted to score important goals in big games. That's certainly not inside information. The numbers speak for themselves, but how often does he get the game's first goal, as that's what we're most interested in?

Sticking with that same 12-game period mentioned above, Haaland broke the deadlock against Liverpool, Burnley, and Iraq. The odds mean you can keep your stakes low and still aim for a prize worth winning.

Tip: Haaland to score first @ 11/4 (bet365)

Bet explanation: Backers need Erling Haaland to score the first goal of Tuesday's decider.
