Maresca, 46, is widely expected to be the man tasked with filling Pep Guardiola’s enormous shoes at Man City following the Spaniard’s departure.
It’s been reported that Maresca informed Chelsea he had held talks with City over taking the job last October, and it’s one of the reasons he decided to walk away from the club in January.
According to Sky Sports, City are still in active talks with Chelsea concerning compensation for Maresca.
City are hopeful of reaching an agreement this week so they can officially appoint him as the successor to Guardiola.
