Live updates

20:15 BST - That's it for tonight, thanks for joining us! We'll be back on Sunday with two fixtures that look set to be blockbusters:

Tottenham v Aston Villa, Kick-off 2pm

Liverpool v Man Utd, Kick-off 4.30pm

20:06 BST - Arsenal star Bukayo Saka has been speaking to Sky Sports and said their win at Fulham, where they have previously struggled, is down to their stronger mentality.

He said: "We believe. The mentality is simple, it's 'win in any context'. We showed it today. We started poor, and we won.

"It's significant for us. For others it might not be, but for a few years we've come here and not got the results we wanted to everyone's really happy in the changing room with today.

"We've struggled with Newcastle away, West ham and home, and now Fulham away. We're picking up points this season that we haven't in other seasons."

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta said experience saw them over the line against Fulham.

"(Craven Cottage) is a really tough place to come," he told Sky Sports. "We have experienced that in the last few years. We put a lot into it. We had some giveaways in the first half, but we became more dominant throughout the game.

"The simplicity in certain aspects with the ball. We had to change the structure as well to facilitate as well that gave us fluidity. They have been together for many years, so they know how to adapt.

"It is very early in the season, but it is great (for Leandro Trossard) to be scoring in the goals. Another clean sheet which is good to see, so I am very happy."

19:27 BST - Fulham manager Marco Silva told BBC Match of the Day: "When you lose a game, it is always a disappointing one. They were at a very good level. We did create chances to score before Arsenal. They were more on that than on ourselves.

"We knew it was not going to be easy, a tough team to play against but I think we kept them away from big chances in the game. After the goal, we did react and started to play more in our way again.

"Gabriel jumps so high (for the goal), it's impossible to stop him. It's very difficult to control. The way we tried to block his run, most of the game, we did it very well. We were too open and left the path for Gabriel. We didn't want him to run in that part. Any flick is very difficult to control at the back post."

19:55 BST - Here's how the Premier League table looks after today's matches, with Tottenham v Aston Villa and Liverpool v Man Utd to come on Sunday with West Ham v Brentford on Monday.

19:50 BST - You can watch highlights of the match below:

19:45 BST - Arsenal's match-winning goalscorer Leandro Trossard told Sky Sports: "(I'm) very proud. It was a really tough game for us. First half, the quality wasn't there but we kept fighting and believing. We only need one chance and luckily, it went. After that, we controlled the game."

On corners, he added: "We are just trying because we know the opponent tries to change their shape for us. The ball was headed to the back post and I got the tap-in. We try to work hard on finding solutions and we got a clean sheet as well. That is really important and we need to keep going with this.

"We have so much quality in the team and if they try to double up on players, then I need to take advantage of that. I try every game to be important for the team.

"We try to win every game. It's the hardest league in the world, but we need to keep pushing. If you defend well, then you only need one goal so we need to keep going like that."

19:32 BST - FULL-TIME! Arsenal beat Fulham 1-0 and return to the top of the Premier League.

The Gunners have now scored in seven of their eight games and kept a clean sheet in five of these games, no team has done so more often in the Premier League this season.

Fulham meanwhile have lost their last three games in the Premier League, their last joint-longest losing streak was from 16th December 2023 to 26th December 2023.

19:23 BST - There will be nine minutes of time added on. A roar goes up at Craven Cottage as Fulham push for a late equaliser.

19:18 BST - The clock ticks down and it has been 30 minutes since Fulham last attempted a shot in this game; Harry Wilson in the 55th minute.

19:08 BST - There are 15 minutes of normal time remaining. Can Fulham find an equaliser or will Arsenal find a second to put the game to bed?

19:00 BST - NO PENALTY! There's a slight delay to get the VAR replay to work but Kevin clearly take the ball before bringing down Saka. No penalty.

18:58 BST - PENALTY! Bukayo Saka goes down in the box from a challenge by Kevin and referee Anthony Taylor points to the spot. It looks a harsh decision and it's being reviewed by VAR.

18:51 BST - GOAL! Leandro Trossard gives Arsenal the lead - and it's from another set piece! Bukayo Saka takes a corner, Gabriel heads it on, and Trossard prods the ball over the line.

The Gunners have scored 37 goals from corners in the Premier League since the start of the 2023-24 campaign, at least 16 more than any other side.

18:48 BST - Josh King drives forward for Fulham and the ball eventually finds Harry Wilson who spanks an effort over the bar from an Alex Iwobi cross. That was close, but it's still 0-0.

18:38 BST - Arsenal get the second half underway at Craven Cottage.

18:22 BST - HALF-TIME: Fulham and Arsenal go in level at the break.

18:16 BST - There will be six minutes of injury time at the end of the first half. Marco Silva will be the happier of the managers, but can either team find a breakthrough as the clock ticks down?

18:13 BST - Joachim Andersen goes down injured for Fulham and is replaced by Issa Diop. Josh King has a knock to the face but is fine to carry on.

18:04 BST - It's still goalless at Craven Cottage with neither team testing the goalkeepers with a shot on target so far.

17:55 BST - Away from the Premier League for a moment as Harry Kane has just scored his 400th goal in club football to give Bayern Munich the lead over Borussia Dortmund in the Bundesliga.

It's Kane's 12th goal in the league this season. By comparison, Erling Haaland has scored nine in the Premier League so far this term.

17:46 BST - NO GOAL! Arsenal break and Riccardo Calafiori fires into the roof of the Fulham net, but the goal is ruled out for offside. What a goal that would have been!

17:45 BST - It's been a good start for Fulham so far and Arsenal have already faced three shots - just one fewer than they did in the whole of their last game against West Ham - but it's still goalless.

17:30 BST - The players take the knee before referee Anthony Taylor blows his whistle to get the game started.

17:29 BST - We're nearly underway at Craven Cottage - stick with us for all the updates!

17:25 BST - Time for some stats from this afternoon's fixtures:

Sunderland have kept a clean sheet in four of their eight games; only Newcastle United (five) and Arsenal (five) have done this more often in the Premier League this season.

Erling Haaland has contributed to 10 goals in his last six games in the Premier League - two today against Everton for the City striker.

Crystal Palace have attempted 20 shots against Bournemouth, their highest total in a single match in the Premier League this season.

Bournemouth have scored in seven of their eight games; no team has done so more often in the Premier League this season.

Leeds have failed to score in four of their eight games; only Nottingham Forest (five) have failed to score more often in the Premier League this season.

Brighton have scored in seven of their eight games; no team has done so more often in the Premier League this season.

Brighton striker Danny Welbeck to BBC Sport"It was a very good win and it was very important for us. We've had some results where we've been pushing and not quite got there. We've been ahead here at home and have not got the three points. It was a test of our character today.

"We were well in control. Some good football and they nicked a goal. Once that happened, they got some momentum. It' good for us to see the progression.

"I love it. I have the passion and love for football. It's what I want to do. I feel good. I feel strong and fit so I won't be stopping soon."

17:02 BST - FULL-TIME: An incredible six-goal thriller comes to a close between Crystal Palace and Bournemouth, who draw 3-3 at Selhurst Park. Mateta with a hat-trick for the Eagles in that one.

Crystal Palace striker Jean-Philippe Mateta to BBC Sport: "I want to win every game, even if I did score a hat-trick. It was up to me to score the goal (with a late missed chance), and I didn't score it, that is why I am like this.

"I need a few minutes to speak with the team and cool down, but now I am upset."

Bournemouth boss Andoni Iraola in his press conference: "I think it has been an entertaining game. If we talk about football, we were better in the first half, and they were better in the second half. They punished us with their physicality.

"I cannot be happy, I am not pleased, I am upset, and I am angry because of their goal in the 96th minute. I cannot accept it.

"Not to win it because someone called a penalty, and I think the previous decision influenced the VAR. That is the only explanation I can find."

17:01 BST - FULL-TIME: It's another three points for Sunderland, who beat bottom-of-the-league Wolves 2-0. Mukiele and a Krejci own goal seal victory for the Black Cats.

Burnley defender Kyle Walker speaking to Premier League Productions: "It's a massive win. We all knew that, especially when these teams come to Turf Moor, that we need to turn it into our game. They are coming to our home and we need to take three points.

"Full congratulations to the lads. They put in an excellent shift today, and congratulations to Loum for his first Premier League goal - it was a cracker."

Leeds boss Daniel Farke to Premier League Productions"I can't blame the lads too much. You can't have better statistics than we had today in an away game at this level. Even when Arsenal, Liverpool and City come here they will not have those statistics. But in football, it is all about the goals, and we were not effective enough today.

"We missed too many chances and we allowed them to have a chance either side of half-time. Credit to them, they were able to be more effective than us, and that was decisive today."

16:58 BST - FULL-TIME: Manchester City go top of the table with a 2-0 win over Everton after a Haaland brace - his 10th and 11th in the league this season.

Nottingham Forest have failed to score in five of their eight games, more than any other team in the Premier League this season

Ange Postecoglou at Nottingham Forest is the first mid-season Premier League appointment to see his team score just one goal in his first five games in charge since Alan Shearer at Newcastle United in 2009, who would go on to be relegated

Chelsea have named a Premier League XI without Moises Caicedo for the first time since Christmas Eve 2023 against Wolves, ending a run of 65 consecutive starts for the midfielder

14:27 BST - That result leaves Forest 17th in the table - and potentially in the bottom three after the rest of the fixtures have been played.

Postecoglou is now without a win in his first eight games at the club.

11:15 BST - There are several absentees in the Premier League this weekend, with Arsenal notably without captain Martin Odegaard and Everton unable to call on Jack Grealish.

11:00 BST - Nottingham Forest manager Ange Postecoglou is still chasing his first win and came out swinging in his press conference ahead of the clash with Chelsea - insisting that with more time, he will once again win a trophy.

"Maybe I am not a failed manager but one who, if you give time, the story always ends the same, with me and a trophy.

"I just don’t fit. Not here but just in general. If you look at it through the prism that I’m a failed manager who is lucky to get this job – I know you are smirking at me but that has been said, and I can find the print (that says it) – then of course these five weeks look like I’m under pressure."
