Arriving from Real Madrid, the Scot established herself as the leader of the Madrid side, making 125 appearances.
She became the top scorer in the Spanish club’s history with 63 goals, and was particularly decisive this season in the Champions League, finding the net nine times.
Her outstanding performances earned her the title of best player in the Liga F in 2023, as well as Real Madrid’s player of the year in 2023 and 2025.
Trained in Scotland, Weir quickly moved to England and joined Arsenal, where she made her Champions League debut at just 18 years old.
Between 2013 and 2022, playing for the Gunners and then Manchester City, the midfielder built up an impressive record in England, winning three Women’s League Cups (2013, 2019, 2022) and two FA Cups (2014, 2019).
Captain and pioneer of Scottish football
On the international stage, Weir (120 caps, 31 goals) is a legend. In 2017, she gave Scotland their very first win in a major tournament by scoring the winner against Spain at the Euros.
More recently, she made history by becoming the first Scottish woman to reach the Ballon d’Or final.
Appointed captain of her national team in February 2026, she is in sparkling form: she has just led Scotland to qualification for the 2027 World Cup in Brazil, scoring no fewer than seven goals in the last two international breaks.
