Lyon need to quickly end their dip in form as they host a struggling Angers side who so rarely win here.

Match News and Current Form

Lyon’s 2-0 loss to PSG on Monday was their second defeat in three league matches (W1), with that downturn in form coming after a five-game unbeaten streak at the start of their Ligue 1 campaign (W3, D2) and leaving them fifth in the table ahead of this round. Having also been thrashed 3-0 by Hoffenheim in Europe prior to that defeat, Paulo Fonseca's side have lost back-to-back matches in all competitions without scoring for the first time since his appointment in January 2025. Les Gones will expect to bounce back on home soil, where they have accumulated the joint second-highest points total in Ligue 1 (47) since the start of last season.

Angers’ 0-0 draw with Lorient on Sunday means that they head into this clash without a win in three matches (D1, L2), leaving them down in 14th pre-round. That scoreline continued a bizarre pattern, as Stéphane Gilli’s men have either kept a clean sheet or conceded five goals in their last five matches! The Black and Whites still have their best points total at this stage of a Ligue 1 campaign for four years (8), but three of their four defeats this season have come against sides who start this round in the top half, which points to further trouble in this fixture.

Head-to-Head History

Lyon’s run of one defeat in the last 18 H2Hs (W14, D3) includes seven successive home wins - against no opponent do they have a longer current such sequence of victories in Ligue 1.

Key Players to Watch and Missing Players

Lyon teenager Steeve Kango missed the PSG match with concussion. Angers’ Amine El Ouazzani went off injured against Lorient, while Emmanuel Biumla and Bané Diatta both missed that game.

Betting Analysis

Angers’ leaky defence, particularly before the break, makes backing Lyon half-time/full-time appealing here.
