Promoted sides Hull and Ipswich have both reached ten points in the Premier League this season, albeit by taking very different approaches.

Match News and Current Form

Hull’s superb start to the Premier League season has given way to a frustrating six-match winless run (D4, L2), including Sunday’s 1-1 draw with Brentford. They still ended the round in the top half, a reward for the counter-attacking style head coach Sergej Jakirović has employed. A return to winning ways could be on the cards at the MKM Stadium, where the Tigers are unbeaten in nine games (W3, D6), their best effort since a 12-match sequence between November 2018 and April 2019, though they’ve won just one of their four Premier League games here this term (D3).

Like Hull, Ipswich also drew 1-1 last time out, holding Nottingham Forest to reach the ten-point mark (W3, D1, L4) but there the similarities end. Gary O’Neil’s side have taken a more attacking approach, scoring three more goals than their hosts while conceding twice as many, so a clash of styles could ensue here. The Tractor Boys have consistently found ways to trouble top-flight defences, but failing to keep a clean sheet in the league this term threatens to undermine their efforts, an issue painfully apparent on the road, where they have already conceded 11 goals in four games (W1, L3).

Head-to-Head History

Ipswich are unbeaten across the last five H2Hs (W4, D1) and haven’t lost away at Hull since September 2018 (W2, D1). Just one of the last nine H2Hs at any venue saw both teams score.

Key Players to Watch and Missing Players

Mohamed Belloumi has attempted 3+ shots in four of his last five Premier League appearances and is the only player to have scored more than one league goal for Hull this season (three), while five of his eight goals for the club arrived between the 20th and 40th minute. Ipswich’s Jaden Philogene returns to his former club hoping for a first strike of the season which could come early, as three of his last four league goals arrived before the 20th minute.

Hull’s Nobel Mendy is touch-and-go for this one as he recovers from a groin injury, while Ipswich appear to have no fresh injury worries.

Betting Analysis

Hull’s record at home, coupled with Ipswich’s woes on the road, suggests there’s value in backing Hull to win.
