The 2026 World Cup was held from June 11th to July 19th in the United States, Canada and Mexico. The tournament featured 48 national teams and was played in 16 modern stadiums.

02:59 BST - FULL-TIME! It's all over and the USA have crashed out of the World Cup. Belgium will play European champions Spain in the World Cup quarter-final.

02:57 BST - GOAL! It's officially a rout. USA's Chris Richards is all over the place and loses the ball on the left side. Romelu Lukaku is on hand to get his name on the scoresheet. 1-4

21:53 BST - GOAL! Mikel Merino has done it so often for Arsenal and he's given Spain the lead! The substitute latches on to a through ball and charges into the area before thumping the ball past Diogo Costa!

16:03 BST - There's quite the kerfuffle going on regarding USA's game with Belgium later following FIFA's decision to suspend Folarin Balogun's red card.
Balogun was sent off in the USA's last outing and was due to miss the Belgium match, but that won't be the case with FIFA suspending his ban, helped by an intervention from President Donald Trump.
It has since sparked major outrage, with European governing body UEFA condemning FIFA's actions.

15:10 BST - We cannot wait for the Iberian derby tonight as Portugal's Cristiano Ronaldo and Spain's Lamine Yamal clash in a battle of generations.
It's the neighbours' first meeting since Portugal won last year's UEFA Nations League final, so Spain will be out to exact some revenge.
Portugal had to fight past Croatia late on in the round of 32, while it was easier going for Spain as they swept past Austria.
14:51 BST - Yesterday's other last-16 match wasn't too shabby either as Erling Haaland powered in a late double to help guide Norway past five-time champions Brazil 2-1.
The Manchester City striker dispatched an expert header to open the scoring on 79 minutes and cracked a fierce second into the bottom corner.
Neymar got a consolation back for Brazil via the penalty spot in what is likely to be his final act for the Selecao.

13:18 BST - It was pure chaos through the early hours of this morning as 10-man England braved Estadio Azteca to down Mexico 3-2 in a World Cup classic.
Jude Bellingham scored twice in 98 seconds, Mexico hit back, Jarrell Quansah got sent off, Harry Kane netted a penalty, Mexico scored again, but that was all she wrote.
