Real Betis broke a seven-game winless streak with a thrilling 3-2 victory over Girona in midweek, as influential playmaker Isco returned to action following a long-term ankle injury.

Meanwhile, Real Madrid got back to winning ways with a 2-1 triumph over Alavés, although Arbeloa's side still look vulnerable in defensive areas.

Los Blancos have now gone nine consecutive league matches without managing to keep a clean sheet.

This is a critical contest for both sides: Madrid need to win to keep the title race alive, while Betis are looking to consolidate fifth position in their bid for European qualification.

However, the 36-time LaLiga champions travel to Seville with a number of notable absentees, most notably Éder Militão, who pulled out of Tuesday's meeting with Alavés due to injury.

Real Betis will be looking to exploit the weaknesses in the visitors' backline, which the absence of several key defenders could amplify.

The last meeting between these two sides at the Estadio de La Cartuja concluded in a 2-1 victory for the hosts. Will we see a similar scoreline on Friday evening?

An open contest at La Cartuja?

Both teams consistently generate a high number of corners, so we can expect to see plenty awarded on Friday evening. Real Madrid receive more corners than the vast majority of teams in the division, averaging 7.2 per match.

As evidenced on Tuesday night, Real Madrid are also partial to conceding corners. Their clash with Alavés produced 15 corners in total, with the visitors being awarded six of those set-pieces at the Bernabéu.

Meanwhile, Real Betis have been awarded an average of 4.48 corners per match, which still ranks highly against other La Liga sides. There was a total of 13 corners when these two sides met in January, which saw Real Madrid run out convincing 5-1 winners.

Given the attacking enthusiasm of Real Betis' full-backs and Vinícius Júnior's tendency to tempt defenders into making tackles in and around the byline, another sizeable corner count seems likely.

Prediction: Over 8.5 Corners: 8/15 (bet365)

Explanation: This bet will land if nine or more corners are awarded during the match.

Reviewing track records

This market is based on the scoring consistency and defensive frailties shown by both sides. Real Madrid have witnessed between two and four goals in five of their last seven league games, thanks to scoring and conceding in relatively even quantities.

With an average of 2.09 goals scored per game overall this term, Los Blancos' goalscoring prowess continued even in the absence of star striker Kylian Mbappé

The trend is similar for Betis, with seven of their last ten LaLiga outings also producing between two and four goals.

The team has gained attacking fluency with the return of Isco, scoring three goals against Girona, but the absence of the defensive duo of Junior Firpo and Diego Llorente could lead to the opposition creating more clear-cut chances. On average, the Andalusians concede 1.23 goals per game.

Therefore, the stats suggest both teams could find the net in a relatively low-scoring affair.

2-4 Goals Range: 8/15 (bet365)

Explanation: This bet will land if exactly two, three, or four goals are scored.

Madrid always concede

Given the hosts' attacking quality and the defensive issues Real Madrid have experienced in recent weeks, it seems highly likely that Andriy Lunin will be regularly called into action on Friday night.

The Ukrainian goalkeeper is coming off the back of being one of the stars against Alavés, where he made four fine saves to ensure Madrid secured all three points.

Furthermore, Real Betis are a team that generate a high volume of shots, averaging 14.5 shots per game and therefore forcing frequent interventions from the opposing goalkeepers.

Lunin has been in excellent form of late, making four saves in each of his last three Champions League appearances, with some of these stops preventing close-range shots from finding the net.

Prediction: Andriy Lunin to make 3+ Saves: 5/6 (bet365)

Explanation: This bet will land if Real Madrid goalkeeper Andriy Lunin makes three or more saves.
