Camilo Duran scored the winner for Celtic against Hibernian at Easter Road on Sunday, in conditions not exactly conducive to flowing football.

But Martin O’Neill’s side did enough to claim all three points and maintain their position at the top of the Scottish Premiership table.

If we accept that Celtic, Rangers and Hearts are streets ahead of the rest in Scotland, there’s a battle to be the ‘best of the rest’ behind the trio. 

And Dundee United are doing their best to take the crown, currently sitting fourth in the Premiership after a fine 3-2 victory over Aberdeen on Saturday.

Plucky Underdogs

Dundee United are an interesting case as they are not daunted by playing Celtic. In fact, they’ve won two of their last four meetings with the Glaswegians. 

Coming into this game unbeaten in five (W3 D2 L0) as well, this is afar from the foregone conclusion that matches featuring the Old Firm sometimes feel like from a betting perspective.

That being said, a trip to Celtic Park is a whole other matter. The hosts have beaten Dundee United in each of their last four on home soil, scoring 13 goals and keeping three clean sheets.

After suffering injuries to key attacking players at times this term, Celtic are pretty much back to their full complement now.

The likes of Duran, Kasper Hogh and Benjamin Nygren are fit and firing, while reports suggest that Yang will be fit to return on Wednesday.

In the four Premiership games they’ve played since September 20, Celtic have scored one, two, two and seven goals… and they average 2.60 at Celtic Park this term.

Dundee are solid enough defensively – they’ve conceded 14 in ten games, but in 2025 they’ve lost 2-0, 4-0 and 4-0 in three games against the Hoops, so we expect Celtic to perhaps score twice or even three times in their next meeting.

Duran the Man

With 11 goal involvements (six goals, five assists) in 644 minutes of Scottish Premiership football this season, Duran has been in red-hot form.

And in his last five outings in all competitions, the Colombian has scored four times and assisted two others.

Momentum is a wonderful thing for attacking players in football, and there’s no indication that Duran is intent on slowing down – against Hibernian, he recorded 0.46xG, which was the highest tally on the field.

In the past fortnight alone, he’s scored against Benfica and Hearts… he’ll be chomping at the bit to add to that collection on Wednesday.
