After the game was over, the 28-year-old said: "I was angry, not disappointed. It's not the first time it's happened."
He continued: "At the first handover, I went to get the ball and heard them call me 'monkey', but I didn't say anything.
"Then, they did it again and I asked the bench for help. I said 'you can't play football like this'. It's not the first time this has happened to me or other players. These are things that have to be said. They are ignorant people.
"The fans come to the stadium to cheer, maybe to boo, but these things should not happen in football," said Maignan to Sky Sports.
A reaction - that of Maignan - supported by the rest of his team, as he also repeated in front of DAZN cameras: "We are a big family, I felt the support of everyone.
"It is very difficult but we are here to play football. We talked and decided to go back on the pitch to win this game.
"I was angry, not disappointed," he continued. "It's not the first time this has happened. (Zlatan) Ibrahimovic told me to stay strong in the head and go back on the pitch to win the game. I actually didn't want to play any more."
