Brazil and Norway battle it out in the last 16 of the FIFA World Cup for a place in the quarterfinals, where they will face either England or Mexico.

Brazil have underperformed compared to their lofty expectations. They may have topped their group, but they did so only on goal difference. In the last 32, they were pushed all the way by Japan, and you can see that happening again here.

Norway finished as runners-up in Group I and faced fellow runners-up, Ivory Coast, in the last 32. They managed to get past the Ivorians thanks to a late Erling Haaland goal, and now the Scandinavian side will need to step up if they are to get past the Brazilians.

Brazil team news

Brazil will remain without Raphinha, who went off in their second game against Haiti. The Barcelona winger has returned to training on grass, but this match has come too soon for his return to the squad.

Lucas Paqueta is another player who will be missing on Sunday because of a hamstring injury. Paqueta went off at half-time against Japan and was replaced by Endrick, who will be hoping to have a starting role for the team against Norway.

Brazil predicted lineup v Norway (4-2-3-1)

Coach: Carlo Ancelotti

Alisson; Danilo, Marquinhos, Gabriel, Douglas Santos; Casemiro, Bruno Guimarães; Vinícius Júnior, Cunha, Rayan; Endrick.

Norway team news

Norway are likely to be unchanged when they face Brazil in the last 16. Julian Ryerson is the only doubt, but he has not featured since their second game against Senegal.

Arsenal’s Martin Ødegaard could make history against Brazil if he registers an assist, becoming the first player on record (since 1966) to register an assist in each of his first four World Cup appearances. He has managed three in three thus far after not featuring against France in the final group game.

Norway predicted lineup v Brazil (4-3-3)

Where to watch?

In the UK, Brazil vs Norway will be shown live on ITV (STV in Scotland). The match will also be available to stream through ITVX.

Head-to-head record

This will be the fifth meeting between Brazil and Norway in all competitions, and the second at the FIFA World Cup. The last time they met in a World Cup was in 1998, which finished 2-1 to Norway. Indeed, the Vikings are unbeaten in all four previous games between the sides (W2, D2).

This will be Norway’s second knockout game of the 2026 FIFA World Cup; they had only played two knockout matches in major tournaments (World Cup and Euro) in their history before this year, losing in the round of 16 of the 1938 and 1998 World Cups, both to Italy.

Brazil have progressed from nine of their last 10 matches in the last 16 round of the FIFA World Cup, only failing to do so in 1990 when they lost to Argentina.

Odds for Brazil v Norway

Brazil are favourites for this match, coming in at 4/5 at bet365. A Norway win is at 10/3, with a draw in 90 minutes at 27/10.

Odds correct at time of writing, subject to change.
