The World Cup 2026 party began on Thursday, and members of the Tartan Army don't need to wait too long to get involved. Scotland play Haiti on Sunday morning at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough. Steve Clarke's side impressed in qualifying, ensuring the nation attended a first World Cup since France 1998. Fans hope good things come to those who wait.

Scotland have never qualified from a World Cup group, despite June being their 10th appearance in this competition. Beating Haiti on Sunday won't be enough to push them through, but three points would certainly boost their chances. The Scots take confidence from a recent 4-1 friendly win over Curacao at Hampden, a team ranked 82nd by FIFA.
Will Scotland deliver an historic win or can the Grenadiers spoil the party? Match winner - Scotland
My research produced three Scotland vs Haiti predictions worth your attention. I open with a bet on Scotland in the match-winner betting market, also known as 1X2. The simplest and most popular way to gamble on football is to bet on a side to win; if it does, you beat the bookies and profit. If your pick loses or the game is a draw, the bookie keeps your stake.
The latest head-to-head stats available on the Flashscore app show these nations have never met in competitive action. Thankfully, there's enough information in the form and stats to build a strong prediction. Scotland stand 40 places above their opponents in the pre-World Cup FIFA rankings. The Scots were also more convincing than Haiti during qualification.

Scotland qualified from Group C with four wins, one draw, and a single defeat. They scored 13 goals and conceded just 7, upsetting the betting odds to finish clear of Denmark, Greece, and Belarus. Haiti qualified with three wins, two draws, and a defeat, scoring nine goals but conceding six. If Scotland are at their best, they'll open with a precious win.
Tip: Scotland win @ 4/9 (bet365)
Bet explanation: If Scotland outscores Haiti, your bet wins, and you'll boost your balance.
HT/FT - Scotland
Sticking with my bet on Scotland to beat Haiti, I push my luck a little further by backing Clarke's team in the half-time/full-time market. When following, you need Scotland to be ahead on the scoreboard at half-time and then again at the final whistle. They don't need to score in both halves, but must lead their opponents. A 1-0 win with an early goal works.
Scotland headed to the United States with a morale-boosting friendly win over Curacao in Glasgow. The dark blues scored once in the first half and three in the second period. In their final qualifying match, Scotland beat Denmark 4-2 to win the pool. They led 1-0 at the break, before second-half goals from Shankland, Tierney, and McLean wrapped up the points. The Scots thumped Bolivia 4-0 in a final warm-up.
When Scotland beat both Belarus and Greece late last year, they scored five goals in total, including a strike from Adams inside 15 minutes. Haiti played two games in March 2026, conceding two goals and scoring one. Scotland will enjoy fantastic support in Boston, and that'll drive them to victory. I expect our pick to score early and take control of the game.
Tip: Scotland HT/FT @ 11/10 (bet365)
Bet explanation: Scotland must be leading the match against Haiti at both half-time and full-time to win this bet.
Anytime scorer - Shankland
Scotland have been crying out for a composed, reliable, and consistent scorer for many years. Turns out, the answer was under Clarke's nose the whole time - Lawrence Shankland. Signed by Rangers before jetting off to the US, Shankland enjoyed a remarkable season at Hearts, firing the Jambos to second in the Premiership behind Celtic.
The 30-year-old Glaswegian striker netted 16 goals for Hearts in the Premiership season just gone, making him the league's second-highest scorer. Shankland has scored 24 goals for club and country so far this term, and I'm confident he'll improve on that against Haiti. He got two against Curacao and put one past the Danes. I have high hopes for him this summer.
You can back Shankland to score first at higher odds, but I'm happy with the anytime scorer market. Followers need the Rangers' number seven to find the net anytime during the 90 minutes. A screamer in the opening 60 seconds pays the same as a late tap-in. As long as Shankland continues his scoring ways this weekend, you'll land a solid return on your wager.
Tip: Shankland to score @ 13/10 (bet365)
Bet explanation: If Shankland gets on the scoresheet against Haiti, your bet wins, and you'll make a profit.
