Nine places separate Genoa and Juventus in the Serie A table pre-round, but a quick glance at the form book tells a slightly different story as it’s the lower-ranked side who’ve picked up more points of late.

Match News and Current Form

Genoa may sit uncomfortably close to the relegation zone, but recent form will have them believing they’ve turned a corner as they’ve picked up six of their seven points this season across the last three rounds. Three of those came at the weekend when Genoa beat Venezia 1-0, and a swift return to Stadio Luigi Ferraris is only likely to boost belief for a side who’ve picked up 100% of their Serie A points this season at home. They’re unbeaten in three such matches (W2, D1), but they’ve also lost to nil in each of the last three Wednesday-held Serie A games they hosted, so they won’t be taking anything for granted here.

Despite battling relegation, Genoa have collected more points across the last three rounds than Juventus, although the Bianconeri did collect three of their four therein courtesy of a 2-0 win away to Lecce at the weekend. A lot of their good work has been done on the road this term, losing just once (W3, D1) when travelling across all competitions, yet it’s their inconsistency which has been holding them back this term. Juve’s last six games followed the same draw, loss, win pattern, a streak they’ll be desperate to snap in a positive sense here as they chase a fifth win in six Wednesday-held Serie A away matches (L1).

Head-to-Head History

Juventus have won the last four H2Hs without conceding and have won on four of their last six visits to Genoa (W1, D1).

Hot Stats and Streaks

Genoa had fewer shots than their opponents in their last five top-flight home matches.

Genoa scored four of their five home league goals this season before the 30th minute.

Juventus conceded six of their eight Serie A goals this season after the hour mark.

Juventus picked up 2+ yellow cards in only one of their last seven competitive games.

Key Players to Watch and Missing Players

Genoa’s Stephan El Shaarawy has netted his last five club goals on or beyond the hour mark, but he’s also lost a joint-career high ten H2Hs against Juventus. Randal Kolo Muani could rival him in the closing stages as his three Juventus goals this term all arrived after the 80th minute.

Kingsley Ehizibue missed the weekend’s game for Genoa, while Juventus remain without a raft of players.

Betting Analysis

This game doesn’t seem as cut-and-dry as the bookmakers suggest it may be, so backing Genoa/Draw in the double chance market could pay off.
