Matchday eight of Serie A rounds off with a clash of two heavyweights, as Lazio and Juventus lock horns for the 163rd time in the top flight.

Match News and Current Form

After winning just two of their seven opening matches this Serie A season (D2, L3), Lazio remain stuck in the bottom half of the table despite posting a positive three-game unbeaten run (W1, D2). The most concerning aspect this term for Lazio is potentially their struggles against the league’s better sides, with both of their Serie A wins this term coming against teams starting the round in the bottom four. That doesn’t make great reading as European-challenging Juventus come to the Stadio Olimpico, especially when coupled with the fact that Lazio have won just two of their last 15 home league games (D9, L4).

Despite putting up a valiant fight throughout, Juventus suffered another defeat in midweek when they went down 1-0 to Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League. Pressure is now mounting on boss Igor Tudor, as the Bianconeri are winless in seven matches across all competitions (D5, L2), failing to even score in the last three. Both defeats coming on the road hardly makes for great reading ahead of this clash rounding off a hat-trick of away games in the space of a week, nor does a run of just two wins from their last nine Serie A road trips (D4, L3) which includes two 1-1 draws at this stadium.

Head-to-Head History

Eight of the last nine H2Hs were won by the home side on the day, with Juventus being the last to win on the road in this H2H back in 2021.

Hot Stats and Streaks

Lazio have only kept one clean sheet in their last 15 Serie A home matches.

Pre-round, only Inter had scored more than Lazio’s seven first-half goals.

Only one of Juventus’ seven league matches this term produced over 2.5 goals.

Juventus have failed to score before the break in five consecutive matches.

Key Players to Watch and Missing Players

Lazio have won each of the last 12 matches Mattia Zaccagni scored in, 11 of which produced over 2.5 goals.  Michele Di Gregorio made eight saves against Real Madrid in midweek and has made 3+ saves in his last three away appearances.

Lazio’s forward Matteo Cancellieri was withdrawn through injury in their last match against Atalanta, while Juventus don’t appear to have any new injury concerns.

Betting Analysis

This fixture has historically produced low-scoring affairs, as have Juventus this season, so backing under 2.5 goals seems like a sensible punt here.
