The 2026 World Cup was held from June 11th to July 19th in the United States, Canada and Mexico. The tournament featured 48 national teams and was played in 16 modern stadiums.

03:54 BST - GOAL! Álvaro Fidalgo has scored for Mexico who go 3-0 up against the Czech Republic.
03:46 BST - As things stand in Group A, it will be South Africa who go through to the knockouts behind Mexico, with South Korea hoping to be among the eight best-placed teams who finish third.

00:53 BST - We are coming to the end of 90 minutes as we go in to injury time. Scotland trail Brazil 3-0 while Morocco lead Haiti 4-2.
00:52 BST - GOAL! Morocco score a fourth against Haiti through Gessime Yassine, but will it stand? He appears to be offside. VAR check and the goal is awarded. 4-2.

The Scots have failed to win any of their last seven matches when conceding first in the World Cup, since a victory over Netherlands on 11th June 1978.
23:00 BST - We're underway! This will arguably be the greatest night in Scottish football history if they were to beat Brazil here tonight.

22:56 BST - The national anthems ring out around the Miami Stadium. We could be set for a cracker tonight.
22:50 BST - We are 10 minutes away and the players are in the tunnel about to step out onto the pitch. The atmosphere in Miami is crackling.
22:42 BST - Scotland coach Steve Clarke has been speaking to BBC One and said playing Brazil in a World Cup "doesn't come any better".
Clarke has named an attacking line-up and told the broadcaster: "I've got to make the choices, sometimes you start a little bit more conservative, sometimes you start a little bit more positive.
"I've said to the boys that are on the bench, I'm sure five of them will have a massive outcome on the result.
"The players know that I believe in them, I've spoken about it often enough. They've been fantastic for me, they've been fantastic for their country.
"Tonight's a chance to make a little bit of history, why not start on the front foot and see what we can do.
"Playing Brazil at a World Cup, it doesn't come any bigger, it doesn't come any better. We've prepared, hopefully you see that on the pitch."

22:20 BST - Scotland and Brazil have met four times in the World Cup since 1965/1966: Scotland have won none, one has been drawn, and Brazil have won three, their last meeting on 10th June 1998, a 1-2 loss for Scotland.
22:07 BST - Right then, over to Group C, and an especially big one between Scotland and Brazil.
Kick-off is in a little under an hour.
Steve Clarke has made four changes to the starting XI that faced Morocco: Kenny McLean, Scott McKenna, Ben Gannon-Doak, and Lawrence Shankland come in for Ryan Christie, Ché Adams, Grant Hanley, and Kieran Tierney.
Carlo Ancelotti has made just the one change to the starting XI that faced Haiti. Rayan comes in for the injured Raphinha.

22:04 BST - A Kerim Alajbegović wondergoal helped Bosnia and Herzegovina to a 3-1 win over Qatar, as the Europeans sealed third place in Group B on four points, meaning a likely passage through to the FIFA World Cup (WC) knockout stages.

Co-hosts Canada and Switzerland are both on four points and well-placed to progress before they face off in Vancouver.
Bosnia and Herzegovina and Qatar have a point each and either require a big victory to sneak through as part of the best third-place teams.
15:16 BST - England's draw against Ghana became a legit contender for the worst game of the World Cup so far.
The Three Lions just couldn't break down a stubborn Ghanaian defence and never really looked like cracking that nut.
They are still in a good position to progress through the group, but the performance will be a worry for Thomas Tuchel, and the numbers back that up.

13:56 BST - The day's marquee game sees Scotland look to make the knockout stage of a World Cup for the very first time when they clash with five-time winners Brazil.
The Tartan Army have three points to their name in Group C, so are in a good position to go through with even a draw in Miami among the best third-placed teams.
Brazil are still favoured to top the group, though, but Morocco lurk level on four points as they face Haiti.

12:35 BST - Recapping yesterday, Cristiano Ronaldo became the first player to score at six World Cups with his double in Portugal's 5-0 win over Uzbekistan.
England, meanwhile, were frustrated by Ghana as they drew 0-0 in Foxborough in a bit of a reality check for Thomas Tuchel's men.
Overnight, Colombia qualified for the round of 32 by beating DR Congo 1-0 and Croatia edged past Panama 1-0.
