The 2026 World Cup was held from June 11th to July 19th in the United States, Canada and Mexico. The tournament featured 48 national teams and was played in 16 modern stadiums.

23:22 BST - Speaking after England's 0-0 draw against Ghana, Three Lions boss Thomas Tuchel said: "We knew it would be difficult. They went even more defensive than in the first match; they defended in a 4-5-1. We found our intensity the longer (we) went, but couldn't get the reward.
"We were very good at defending the counter-attacks for most of the match. We have to pay a huge amount of attention to that, (and the) subs were very good."

15:05 BST - England boss Thomas Tuchel has weighed in on the ongoing debate surrounding hydration breaks at the World Cup, admitting that they are more of an issue than he thought they would be.
"I think that it (hydration break) interrupts and changes the identity of the football match, much more than I thought," Tuchel told a press conference.

14:45 BST - Ghana manager Carlos Queiroz and defender Gideon Mensah have given their thoughts ahead of the England clash, with both feeling confident.

14:30 BST - Confidence is flowing through the England camp after their big win against Croatia, and midfielder Declan Rice has insisted the players feel like they can beat any opponent.
"We know as players the level, we know what's required, and that second-half performance was probably the benchmark for us in terms of having to start the game at that level," Rice said.
"We believe that if we can do that from the opening minute, with the players that we also have to come on and finish the game, we can beat any opponent in the world."

13:30 BST - Cannavaro has admitted before the game that his Uzbekistan side have nothing to lose against Portugal.
“As I have always said, we have nothing to lose,” he told reporters ahead of Tuesday's Group K game.
“Portugal always like to control the game. They will start in a very good way; they want to play fast. We will be prepared for that.
“We have our strategy. I know we are going to face a very good team. We will try to do our best, stay in the game until the end.

13:20 BST - Ronaldo is set to reunite with former rival Fabio Cannavaro tonight, with the Italian legend managing Uzbekistan.

12:12 BST - Haaland was keen to temper expectations after Norway picked up their second consecutive win at the 2026 World Cup.
"Depends on what you mean by that. To qualify for the first time in 28 years and going through the group stage, yes, I would say so.
"To win the World Cup, absolutely not. I think let's be a little realistic here, and let's be happy, every single Norwegian on the planet today."

11:52 BST - Iraq manager Graham Arnold insisted that his side were not counting themselves out yet, and will shift their focus to their final group match against Senegal.
"For me now, it's all about Senegal," Arnold said. "With... eight third-placed teams going through. You know, we've still got a chance."

11:30 BST - France's match with Iraq was delayed for over two hours by poor weather conditions, although that didn't stop Mbappe from bagging two goals.
"It was a very long evening," the Frenchman said.
"In terms of staying switched on emotionally, it was very difficult because we had to remain focused in the dressing room for almost two hours. That is very difficult and very demanding."

11:05 BST - Argentina manager Lionel Scaloni was full of praise for his star player, Messi, for both his threat in front of goal and his defensive work.
"When the team was having a rough time without the ball, he worked; he managed to steal the ball," Scaloni said of his former teammate. "You could see his level of commitment.
"There's a reason for that, he has commitment and this is what he generates. I have no more words to talk about Leo. It makes us a little bit tired talking about him all the time."

"I'm very happy with the win," Messi said.
"It was a hugely important victory, a tough one, and one we worked hard for. It gives us calm for what's coming."
