World Cup 2026
The 2026 World Cup was held from June 11th to July 19th in the United States, Canada and Mexico. The tournament featured 48 national teams and was played in 16 modern stadiums.

Three changes for the Ivory Coast, with Ghislain Konan, Emmanuel Agbadou, and Christ Inao Oulai coming in for Amad Diallo, Christopher Operi and Ousmane Diomande.
Norway, meanwhile, have made 10 changes to the team that started against France, with Erling Haaland and Martin Odegaard among those returning.
15:55 BST - Today's opening game looks a good one on paper with the Ivory Coast set to play Norway in Arlington.
The Ivorians came through their group with wins against Ecuador and Curacao, while Norway finished second in theirs.
They picked up victories against Iraq and Senegal, but were well beaten by France last time out, although coach Stale Solbakken made 10 changes for that one.
11:55 BST - It all happened yesterday, with Germany and the Netherlands both sent crashing out of the tournament on penalties.
The Germans were stunned 4-3 by Paraguay in Foxborough following a 1-1 draw after extra time and it stands as the first time they have ever lost a penalty shoot-out at a World Cup.
The Netherlands quickly followed them out as they missed three spot kicks against Morocco, who progressed in Houston.
Brazil were also given a scare earlier in the day as they needed a 96th-minute winner from Gabriel Martinelli to down Japan 2-1.

11:00 BST - Good morning! It's day 20 of the 2026 World Cup and the knockout-stage drama is showing no sign of slowing down.
The Ivory Coast begin today's play against Erling Haaland's Norway, before heavyweights France look to keep their form rolling against Sweden.
Co-hosts Mexico take on Ecuador at the Azteca Stadium in Mexico City to round out the day's action.
