Tottenham's last home league game, a 0-0 draw against Everton, was their first goalless draw in their new stadium, and it came in the 140th Premier League match to be played there. The boos that rang out as the players left the field were evidence enough that patience is already wearing thin.

Though another 0-0 would suit neither side, it could be the most likely outcome given that Spurs are 19th in the table in terms of xG (3.45), whilst Villa are 20th and last in the ranking (3.39).
Villa's 62 touches in the opposition box in games this season are the second-worst showing of all Premier League teams in 2026/27, and evidence a reticence to drive into the penalty area during what might be said to be sporadic attacks.
De Zerbi looking to extend winning run over Emery
Emery and De Zerbi have faced each other five times to date, with the former winning the first three meetings, but losing the last two to the Italian.
The importance of the result is obvious for both, but more so because the game comes directly before an international break.
It'll be another three weeks before Premier League duties resume again after this match, and then the Champions League also returns, so neither manager will want to spend the next few weeks stewing over their poor start.
