The moment of truth has arrived for Spain, who have an opportunity to build some early momentum when they face Cape Verde on Monday afternoon.

The European champions are expected to progress deep into the tournament, so they'll be looking to pick up three points and score plenty of goals against the lowest-ranked side in their group.

A victory here is potentially crucial, as it could help the Spaniards earn a favourable draw in the next round.

Spain to score either side of the interval

On paper, Luis de la Fuente's men are far superior to their opponents and will therefore be hoping to win by a sizeable margin.

Spain are a well-oiled, attacking side who have scored in both halves in each of their last five competitive matches, all of which came during World Cup qualifying. For that reason, we expect them to find the net in both halves again.

Prediction: Spain to score in both halves: 1/2 (bet365)

Explanation: This bet will land if Spain score at least one goal in each half.

La Roja to score between three and six goals

As their recent results demonstrate, Spain are extremely prolific in attack. Cape Verde have shown some defensive vulnerabilities of late, so expect Spain's dynamic forward line to create plenty of chances.

Spain have scored between three and six goals in five of their last seven matches, while facing teams who are arguably much stronger than Monday's opponents

Prediction: Spain – Match Goals Range 3-6: 4/6 (bet365)

Explanation: This bet will land if Spain score either three, four, five, or six goals during the match.

Oyarzabal to continue goalscoring purple patch

Mikel Oyarzabal is undoubtedly one of the key players in  Luis de la Fuente's squad. Having netted 11 goals in his last ten international appearances, the Real Sociedad forward looks like scoring every time he pulls on the famous red jersey.

Oyarzabal is also Spain's designated penalty taker, which dramatically increases his chances of scoring against a side that will likely operate from their defensive third for large periods of the match.

Prediction: Mikel Oyarzabal to score anytime: 8/13 (bet365)

Explanation: This bet will land if Mikel Oyarzabal scores at any time.
